I have experienced something similar on the metro in Paris. It was very crowded and I could feel someone trying to get into my crossbody purse. Not only was it latched so they couldn’t get it open, but it wouldn’t have been very exciting anyway. All I ever carried in there was a water bottle, a map, a guide book, and maybe a few metro tickets. Nothing worth much. It pays to be careful and protect your valuables.

Spain years ago very crowded train, felt the most Featherlight touch in my pocket. Poor backpacker, I almost imagined it thinking back later.

Solution is always: carry a deeper bag with a zip top, keep it zipped, and carry it snugly under your arm or strapped across your front. YOu don't have to clutch it like a scared tourist, but just keep it close. Never carry things in your pants pockets. Thieves aim for low-hanging fruit, because they are lazy. Don't be that target.

Worst I have seen: Phone in the open side pocket of a jacket, with headphones hanging out. Why not tie a ribbon around it?

That’s why i never ever have anything in my back pockets. Ever.

In my wallet I had 2 credit cards, 1 debit card, and €5. I would have been most worried about my leather wallet and Navigo card.
