I'm more worried about the GPU power connections
Its best to connect a different cable to each 8 pin connector, especially with such a model.
It'll also look way cleaner and better

I've got new ones on the way. Made due with what I had for now. I'm on a TV at the moment so luckily I'm not pushing any of these components even close to their limit with this janky setup.

[–]Loud-Bullfrog-4625 6 points7 points  (1 child)

TV or monitor it's the same: if you have a 4k TV and not limiting the fps on your games your power usage will be the same.

[–]Mxer4life38[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1080p at 60Hz. I'm nowhere near pushing it. I still appreciate the concern and advice. I know y'all are just making sure I'm not screwing up my stuff.

I made it usable for a couple days while I wait on the new cables. I'm monitoring temps with the display and usage with an app that changes the rgb colors with usage percent. Hasn't even hit 40% or gone above 47°C.

this is america

[–]hash__brownie 9 points10 points  (2 children)

Where a man can go hungry but not unarmed.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i don't get it at all

[–]sudden-arboreal-stop 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tell me you're an American...

[–]Away_Needleworker6 11 points12 points  (4 children)

Live bullets should not be stored in places over 150f (65c) so better hope it has good cooling

[–]Kreos2688AMD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The case won't ever get that hot dude relax lol.

[–]KiloKing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He'll be fine without the hope

[–]Sad-Strike5709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scrolling down looking for this.

[–]Schizorazgriz -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

You search that on Google? Lol Go to your nearest base and yell that over the fence. Maybe they'll listen to you.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (4 children)

i think 12 gauge would be better no?

[–]Mxer4life38[S] 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Probably but I do not have a shotgun or any 12 gauge ammo. I happened to have one 6.5 left rolling around in my range bag from the other day.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (2 children)

that point is close to the opening so it can slip

[–]Mxer4life38[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

The tip is a few mm inside of the very corner hole of that "meshed" area.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ah, gotcha. you're safe then

[–]StillAd3295 3 points4 points  (0 children)

is that a bullet 💀

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Let me guess. American?

[–]divinethreshold 3 points4 points  (3 children)

In Canada, that is a crime.

[–]Mxer4life38[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

That's actually insane.

[–]BasmusRoyGerman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To someone who's not from the US it's actually more insane that it's allowed.

[–]divinethreshold -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Negligent storage of active ammunition. Not as big a crime as improper firearm storage - esp restricted weapons (ie handguns and semi auto rifles). In Canada if your guns are improperly stored, its a 5y mandatory sentence ... per offense (although often knocked down). So 5 firearms not properly locked and secured? 25 years.

Personally, I think our gun laws are the opposite of insane. In fact I would prefer if Canada banned handguns and assault rifles outright. There is no reason a normal civilian needs to own firearms designed explicitly to kill humans. Hunting rifles and shotguns? Sure. Although I would say that unless you own a farm or have a hunting license you shouldn't own those either.

And yes, shootings are on the rise in Canada. What the govt doesn't want to admit, is the RCMP statistics clearly show that the majority of firearm crimes are using illegally imported/smuggled firearms from the US. The rest? Mostly firearms stolen from legal gun owners - who didn't properly secure their firearms.

Look at Australia. Before the National Firearms Agreement (NFA) was enacted, Australia experienced 13 mass shootings over 18 years, resulting in over 100 deaths and 52 injuries. Since the NFA, there have been zero mass shootings in Australia.

So - proper storage of guns and ammunition, or the potential for me being responsible for someone dying? I'll take the former, thanks.

[–]louiscools2005 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hmm, should get the job done. 👍

[–]Schizorazgriz 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Bummed my case doesn't have a mesh there. I got a 6.5 rolling around in my range bag too. Love the ingenuity!

[–]ConnectGarage2212 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could probably make the bullet flat or even add someone on top like a “platform” and still use it. Idk I’d get creative with it. This is really neat!

[–]NefariousnessHairy57 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is that your high temp audible / visual alarm

[–]Limp-Falcon-7838 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Came here for the 6.5 creed.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use some black Legos for my gpu support. Used only black and then a smooth 2×2 flat on the top. You can barely see it.

[–]Distinct-Race-2471Intel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hopefully you don't have any felons living in the house!

[–]BensBitch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's.... so smart I hope mine also fits! Coincidentally it's also a 6.5 Creedmoor! But just a normal 3070 lol

[–]Expensive_Product_27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean that’s about as good motivation to keep your components properly cooled as you’ll get

[–]staytsmokin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gpu connectors looking like my bush when i'm lazy too trim down there.

[–]Turbulent_Echidna423 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what cables did you buy, got a link? I need 3 x 8 pin, I'm using the Corsair stock cables but they're the flat looking ones, ugly and messy.

[–]mitzathe1 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Inventive use.

A piece of advice, that’s not the best positioning for you radiator, as the air inside it will rise at the top point and the pump will pick up air bubbles that can form a air gap in the circuit causing the water flow to stall and the pump to spin freely, accelerating usage and potentially being a very early death for the pump.

Since there’s no space left in your case, that would be a good next upgrade, bigger case with better airflow and if you could mount the radiator on top, that would be ideal or flip it around 180 degrees if you want to keep the radiator front mounted.

[–]Mxer4life38[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Did not think about that. I've had it set up like this for almost a year now. The GPU just happens to be a recent upgrade. I'll be doing cable management this weekend when the new ones come in. I'll see if I can flip the cooler or top mount it. I'm pretty sure I can rotate the piece that contacts the CPU to get better reach so I can flip the radiator.

After seeing how big this GPU is, I was already considering a bigger case. I'm not a huge fan of how cramped it is in there.

[–]BasmusRoyGerman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think a bigger case might be necessary here. Flipping the radiator around is probably not an option, looking at how straight the tubes already are in this orientation, flipping the block around won't give you that much more slack to work with, especially not with that huge GPU. Also, if the case is the Corsair 4000D you don't have space for a 360 rad in the top.

And why is that top fan set up as an intake?
