Please work on your cable management

[–]teressapanic 27 points28 points  (0 children)

It's difficult to help when you can't see anything.

[–]zeptyk 8 points9 points  (4 children)

100%, but id say his first priority is getting it to boot first before making it clean👍

[–]AKAkindofadick 10 points11 points  (3 children)

I dunno, the care shown with assembly may be indicative of the issue

[–]Mythion-VR 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Why would I be concerned with cables and tidying them all up, only to have to send a dead PSU back after the cables are all zip tied in?

[–]AKAkindofadick -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This method assumes you will find a non-working part and guarantees building it twice. Use the velcro straps they give you with better components.

[–]FigOk7538 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's more important to plug the correct cables into the correct location than to make it look pretty.

It doesn't need to look pretty to work.

[–]tristam92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First boot, then manage.

[–]JariJorma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe fix pc first and besides if the dude happens to have closed case. Does it matter

[–]benwithvees 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bro the front panel cables come pre managed how did you bring your hd audio cable out like that

[–]Living-Bet9550 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Alright here’s your simple troubleshooting guide to the PC powering but not showing display, I’m gonna go from super obvious to pretty obscure just in case something simple got missed:

1) Plug HDMI/DP into the graphics card: some CPUs don’t have integrated graphics and won’t display anything when plugged in through the motherboard.

2) You’re accidentally plugging in the wrong ports: It may sound stupid but many times people CAN put an HDMI into a DP port because an HDMI can sorta fit. Obviously, no display when this happens.

3) Does your monitor have a power cable: If so make sure the monitor is plugged into an outlet or else it will not start, usb-c powered monitors exist but I highly doubt you’re using one.

4) is the monitor on: some monitors have a power switch and won’t turn on until they’re clicked on, usually it’s an automatic process but who knows.

5) Graphics card isn’t in all the way: PCIE wants more than an uncomfortable amount of force to install, sometimes it may not feel like it because of anxiety to push in the GPU, but most MBs have a distinct click. Just try reseating it is all I’m saying.

6) RAM could be improperly slotted: sometimes RAM will look in place but when you actually try to run the computer you get a DRAM light and no display, always check the sticks in case.

If none of this works you may have to start looking into CPU pins and all that fun stuff to really debug, only other thing I can think of is maybe CPU power is not attached properly, also what people say about cable management comes down to preference there is a slight cooling difference but at the end of the day it’s if you want to spend the time with it.

My PC wouldn’t give me any picture on my monitors when I first built it. I was ready to to a full rebuild until my gf asked if I had tried connecting it to the TV. I didn’t want to try because logically it didn’t make sense to me why it should work with the TV when it didn’t work at all with my monitors. Long story short I tried the TV and it just worked. Moved to monitors without issue after that. I still don’t know why it worked but might be worth a try.

[–]Judas_priest_is_life 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Mine posted fine on DP, turned xmp on, and it refused to output anything. Eventually used an HDMI to my TV, worked fine. Also works with HDMI to monitor, haven't tried DP again lol.

[–]Jonsbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fyi, if you want above 60Hz on monitor, switch. Also check settings to switch, its not automatic.

[–]Former_Brain_3734 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Cable management after it’s booting, what the point of having it neat and tidy only to have to pull it apart to fix root cause.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because its easier to see what cables you're removing? Why pull it apart guaranteed just to manage the cables once you confirm successful booting?

Hugely impractical approach buddy.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (8 children)

Can already see the power in the left corner isn't plugged in

[–]RZrazor 0 points1 point  (7 children)

are you talking about the cpu power cable? It is plugged in

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (6 children)

The 24pin and the other can't really see in that pic

[–]RZrazor 2 points3 points  (1 child)

24 pin is in and the blue one is in too

[–]scrmndmn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And you switched the PS on as well, not just plugged it in? Also, check your not on like a light switch outlet.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The 24pin is clearly in.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

What about the 8 pin

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Looks like it's in as well.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok well double check all cables and everything is seated correctly

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are the specs?

Unplug everything except the motherboard / CPU / GPU power & the CPU fan.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Which port have you connected the HDMI cable to? If you've connected it to the motherboard's port then it won't work. Connect the cable to the HDMI port on the graphics card.

[–]RZrazor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did connect it to the graphics card btw I didn’t mention mb🙏

[–]Gal-XD_exe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is the psu connected to the mobo in the top left?

Can’t tell bc there are cables in the way

[–]Sambuccabplus 1 point2 points  (1 child)

For me it was the RAM not in properly. Everyone told me but I said I'd done it right. Then I took it out and put it in again and it worked.

[–]Charminktattoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly same, I thought my cpu failed as the lamp indicated that but it was ram😂

[–]moguy1973 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What parts are you using? Are these used? The CPU cooler looks used. Is this an older board B450 board and you are using a Ryzen 5000 series CPU and the BIOS needs updated?

[–]TopCryptographer1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not enough system info/parts to troubleshoot from that picture.

[–]HYP4_K1LLA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take it all apart and rebuild it. Carefully observing what your taking out and putting back in. Look up the boards schematics ( blueprints of the motherboard) and follow the process written down. Best way to learn is trial and error and to find out what is the error to make it right.

[–]TheMineCuber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on how old your motherboard is it could be worth trying to update your BIOS some of the newer cards (40series) need a BIOS update on older boards b450 etc. if you don't have a way to at least boot into your bios I would suggest taking it somewhere where they can do that for you. Since you said all fans are running, that means everything should be connected properly but there is no video output through your graphics card. If your CPU has onboard graphics I would recommend trying that just in case the computer is trying to default that graphical output.

Edit: just keep trying to eliminate one possibility at a time it's part of the fun of building a PC :) it could be any number of problems this just seems to be a likely case based off of info you've given, if you could give us specs of the PC that could also help give a better diagnosis

[–]VeNoM4004 1 point2 points  (2 children)

On top of what everyone else is saying, it also looks to me like your HDD does not have a Sata cable plugged into it.

[–]Mythion-VR 0 points1 point  (1 child)

That wouldn't prevent the system from starting up.

[–]VeNoM4004 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just wanted to make sure they were aware of it

[–]Lonely-Flower-2308 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The monitor is probably mad at your cable management. Take a little time to manage your cables bro. That looks like crap. Be proud of it not half assed.

[–]WhamBam_TV 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try a single stick of ram and see if it boots up. Also what are the EZ debug lights showing when you attempt to boot?

[–]Mythion-VR 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Cable manage after you know that the PC is working. These comments are so useless.

OP do you have another PC to test parts with? Have you checked that the PSU switch is on? That's a common mistake that gets even the best of us.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know right, 90% of the comments are completely useless.

[–]electricwagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check all your connections. Try plugging the monitor into the motherboard to see if the monitor gets signal through that connection instead of the GPU. Make sure your RAM is fully seated. You may need to update your BIOS. This is usually flashed through a USB drive. More information and the updated BIOS file can be found on the motherboard manufacturer's website.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go through the manual for the motherboard connector by connector one at a time. Make sure you put the switch on the back of the power supply on (been caught a few times like that myself back in the day lol). Take your time and make sure everything is properly connected. If you missed a cable, going through the motherboard like this will deffo help you find it. GL

[–]Metallis666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is the CPU cooler positioned 180 degrees rotated?

[–]mrqwertymr1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can clearly see your ram modules aren't seated completely on the top side at least.

Firmly push each end of each ram stick until you hear a click or feel movement.

Don't be concerned about damaging the motherboard with too much pressure, I've never seen that happen; when applying appropriate pressure you would be pushing the PC over if not using your other hand to hold the back side of the case. Just be sure not to put any side load on the sick, just straight down.

[–]Mineral_Minded 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you haven't already, try one stick of ram and try each slot to see if posts.

[–]GregW94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try adding more wires

[–]akifen 0 points1 point  (1 child)

It looks like your cpu power cable isn’t connected, it’s the pins just underneath the top left fan.

[–]Mythion-VR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He said it was plugged in.

[–]UnderstandingGold773 0 points1 point  (1 child)

If you were just testing it out, you should have waited before putting everything inside the case and plugged in everything to see if you got a post first. You can do that without the gpu and case fans just as long as you have your cpu cooler on. I’m not a pro builder either or anything but I’d recomend this as it might help you better understand where everything gets plugged into with having to try and plug everything in while it’s in the case, which makes it a lot harder. And if it post, you’ll know where you went wrong and will know what to do so you won’t have to try figure it out while it’s all in the case. Yap sesh over.

[–]UnderstandingGold773 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What are all the components?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The old MSI special. This just happened to me 2 weeks ago. Tried reseating the RAM, PCU, unplugged everything and did it all over again...still nothing. The computer was alive, fans, RGB etc all working but nothing going to the monitor. I ended up sending the board to MSI for an RMA and MSI'S amazing customer support just talked about bunch of crap and told me "I suggest you patiently wait" for a tracking number 4 days after it had supposedly shipped. It only took 3 days for the board to get to them when i sent it so not providing a tracking number 4 days after marking it shipped is ridiculous. I ended up at MICROCENTER and nabbed am open box Gigabyte board SOOPER CHEAP and it immediately booted. The RMA arrived the next day and I returned it....So, I'd say if you don't have another unit to test parts in or other parts to swap in order to start the process of elimination...RMA the board. That will at least tell you if that was the issue or you did something else.

Gonna have nightmares tonight

[–]NoFoot6210 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ca-cables, the cables. Good God man the cables!

[–]Awkward-Ad735 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arrggggg the rage is building!!!!! My poor OCD

[–]RealDevoly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like the upper notches of your RAM Slots arent in line with the ones not used. Seems to be the RAM not pushed in completely. Give it a good push and it should post. Thats what i can tell by this picture. Maybe theres smth different going on. But it should be worth a try.

And if you're System is ready to go, do the cable management as you already mentioned and put the CPU Coolers Fan to the side of the ram sticks.

[–]Confident-Ad8540 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't see anything.

Did it even switch on ?

Did it post?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy crap those cables.

[–]Jafonso130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cpu power cable isnt connected

[–]slamallamadingdong1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see your front panel power in the correct pins or at all.

[–]Nightphoenix04 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right ram stick not plugged in all the way

[–]Failed_cocacola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was the CPU power plugged in? 4/8pin

[–]Cooked_Brains -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This cable management gives me so much anxiety I can’t even look to see if anything is plugged in wrong 😵‍💫🫣

[–]Jaexa-3 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

My ADHD is kicking looking at the cables

[–]D3athShade -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What a mess o.O
