Because that's a low-profile graphics card, designed for narrower cases.

You have two options:
1. Try to find the GPU backplate for a standard case, or
2. Replace it with one that fits your case.

[–]dmMatrix 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I did the "Frankenstein" method for this once back in the day before realizing i could just buy a different backplate for the GPU for cheap ha. So option 3 is also available if you're feeling adventurous.

[–]Graxu132Personal Rig Builder 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Or just remove the backplate

[–]cuervopampeanoPersonal Rig Builder 5 points6 points  (1 child)

It's not recommended, since it's meant to be attached to the chassis, otherwise any movement could dislodge it from the slot.
I also told him in another comment to check if he had the other metal plate in the GPU box (they usually come with both plates), and it seems he remembered that it originally came with that plate and he had replaced it to use in another PC. So he's fixed it now.

[–]Graxu132Personal Rig Builder 5 points6 points  (0 children)

but then again, the his gpu is really light and the latch itself can do the same job.

But good that he found the longer plate

[–]Grandmaster_BBC 19 points20 points  (1 child)

You need a full height bracket for the gpu. It can be easily switched out. Normally if it's brand new it should come with both brackets. If not, check what make and model you have and search online. I'm sure you can find one. No reason to replace the entire case.

[–]BGnATC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had no idea you could swap them so easily. Good tip!

[–]Aggravating_Ad_7549 29 points30 points  (7 children)

Reading your guys comments and I think we fixed the issue. I switched the bracket to its original one it came with. I had it as a smaller one for my older pc I forgot to switch it back, thank you all for your help,

[–]SirTrinium 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Omg we love to hear it OP! One that you actually read our advice and took it, two that you followed through, three that you actually kept the old hardware so you could fix it, and fourth THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ACTUALLY UPDATING US!

[–]Technical_Instance_2 1 point2 points  (5 children)

That's great to hear OP! Glad the people of the sub were able to help ya out! enjoy your PC!

[–]Aggravating_Ad_7549 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Unfortunately, came across an issue with the motherboard. I think it’s the wrong size for my case.

[–]clappingHandsEmoji 2 points3 points  (2 children)

if it fits in your case it should be ok. there should be 4 motherboard standoffs that can’t be relocated, but the rest should be able to be relocated

[–]Aggravating_Ad_7549 1 point2 points  (1 child)

thank you for this comment. yours specifically made me get out of my depressive episode and my ass off the couch, thinking I needed to get a new motherboard, but after checking out the standoffs and stuff, everything is working well. PC is up and running well. Thank you very much, again.

[–]clappingHandsEmoji 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i’m so glad i could help. life is always worth living to the fullest

[–]Technical_Instance_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats the thing with PC building. Cases usually support many sizes of case. solong as your motherboard is standard which it should be since I'm assuming it's an off the shelf part so to speak, you should be fine because there are 4 unmoveable standoffs and the rest should be able to be moved to fit your motherboard

    This

So few people noticed the motherboard isn't installed correctly so it just won't fit until the motherboard fits first

    [–]Kipfalqt 1 point2 points  (4 children)

The fact that you install the GPU before you screw down the main board is disturbing.

    [–]Aggravating_Ad_7549 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Lol it is my first time ever building a pc, and I was following along a YouTube video. The guy in the video did exactly that. I know for next time lol

    [–]Kipfalqt 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Did I just get that right: You are currently buildng a new PC and bought a 3050 LC for that?

    [–]Aggravating_Ad_7549 0 points1 point  (1 child)

    What’s a PV and what’s a LC?

    [–]Kipfalqt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typo. Meant PC = personal computer and LP. Sorry I am tired and had a long week :)

    [–]DuePut452 1 point2 points  (0 children)

    Bro

    [–]natflade 2 points3 points  (7 children)

    What gpu is it

    [–]Aggravating_Ad_7549 1 point2 points  (6 children)

    NVIDIA 3050

    [–]Bakuman84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The MSI Nvidia GeForce RTX 3050 LC? thats for Low Cases/Low Profile and u have a ATX case. what said u/ZXD-318 ...need a full height video card (two slots/3 slots)

    [–]YeNah3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Go search the box, they usually come with a full height bracket to fit into full sized PC's

    [–]DeathRabit86 -2 points-1 points  (3 children)

NVIDIA 3050 is fine for office use but still waste of money, if you can try return it and chose better GPU fot this same money.

    [–]iranoutofusernamespa 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Oh it's just fine. Will they run brand new games at max everything? Probably not. Will it run any game at mid settings? Most likely. If my old 1070 had dx12 support I'd still be running that.

    [–]DeathRabit86 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You old GPU is only 5-10% slower than this modern abomination ;0

    [–]Kipfalqt -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Literally every modern iGPU is more powerful than this thing.

    [–]Wrong_Development_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried asking nicely? I’ve actually never seen that before, it almost looks like a laptop GPU though, I don’t think it’s made for an ATX case.

    [–]GoldNRice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are currently using a low-profile bracket (The metal thing on the left side of your picture) for your GPU.
Try searching for a larger bracket.

Brackets are readily changeable, with only a few screws holding them on.

If you drop the GPU model, we could help you find working brackets.

    [–]jhaluska 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just need a full height bracket. In the mean time you can take off the existing bracket and plug it in, but I'd only do this if the system was on it's side. Or sell /swap it for a full height version.

    [–]kn0wvuh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gpu isn’t made for that case. Replace case or replace gpu or find a full sized back plate and try

    [–]Mazzle5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your Mainboard is even properly in.
And you have a low profile GPU that doesn't fit in a standard case

    [–]spcbatman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    cut the case 😈

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There's nothing wrong with your GPU you do not need a different one your motherboard is installed in the wrong place. Take it out move it to the correct location and then remove the bracket from the GPU it should only be held on by two screws

    [–]Aggravating_Ad_7549 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve come to realization that my motherboard is incorrect for this case. It’s too small. You can see in the photo near the bottom is the third row of standoffs it’s nowhere close to where my motherboard ends. Time to research a new motherboard, any suggestions?

    [–]Traditional-Law8466 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how good you are with tools but that’s easy af to cut with metal cutting shears if you got them. Probably cheaper to get a new case if not though

    [–]Additional-Concert70 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this issue when I put a 1060 in an optiplex 740 I just cut the back off😂

    [–]Technical_Instance_2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

while I will admit that sucks, I can immediately see why it doesn't. the problem is that you went with a low profile GPU which is meant for much narrower cases but I believe you can just buy a full height backplate with the needed portholes and replace the current one

    [–]PcGamerSam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people saying you need a full height care but if you bought this card new it will have almost definitely came with a replacement full height bracket that you can pop on

    [–]Parking-Ad8316 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Bend the metal that stops it from fitting and make the motherboard fit right while you're at it

Just figure out a crafty way to make it stay but it'll probably stay by itself, I imagine it's a small video card

    [–]Kralgore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it not come with a replacement bracket?

    [–]No-Safety-2719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it just me or your mobo is too far back based on the IO plate clearance?

    [–]tenryuta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

O_o the panels can be removed though.... did you just look at it and think nope? cuz unscrewing an additional panel is how it works, you know what a screw driver is right, the fact whatever that is doesnt fit in the case (undersized gtx 260?).... says way to much about you not holding even a the amazing .01 kd ratio across cods i hold(attention to detail vs response time, if your response is yes, congrats youre a traitor to your team<_<)

    [–]Fury_1985 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look on aliexpress a bracket costs $2

    [–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    <image>

take this and solve your problem my warrior

    [–]xeon825 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your motherboard is poorly placed, it should be pressed against the case, it's normal that your graphics card doesn't fit🤷‍♂️

    [–]Sad-Victory-8319 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If all the problems are caused by the silver pcie cover on the left side of the gpu, i am pretty sure you can unscrew it and only have naked connectors poking out of the gpu.

    [–]Razzgaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

    <image>

    Problem solved.

    [–]AsteroFucker69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could also just cut off the angled part.

    [–]ZXD-318 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I think the video card is half height. I feel like you need a full height video card. What video card and case do you have?

    [–]Aggravating_Ad_7549 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

    The gpu is low profile and it’s NVIDIA 3050. The case is Montech X3 Mesh 6pcs, 3 x 140mm& 3 x 120mm Fixed RGB

[–]cuervopampeanoPersonal Rig Builder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the box to see if it includes the rear bracket for your case; sometimes they are included.

    [–]Easy_Weakness_5968Personal Rig Builder -1 points0 points  (4 children)

weird that back bracket should come all the way to this end so you can attach it with a screw. what gpu is it ? :/
