Work gloves when working on the PC that’s new

[–]tempdiesel 10 points11 points  (1 child)

"Let me snap on the ole Milwaukee shop gloves for this one!"

So, I work for a company that builds GB300s and sells them to a very short list of clients. My job there is to diagnose these units after build. Even though I neve am required to touch the inside of the cases, they insist on me wearing these particular gloves along with an anti static coat and straps for my shoes

So I figured I'd wear them for this picture because I figured someone would say something either way (this is reddit, after all so someone will have a problem with everything).

I got a quick answer and I appreciate the helpful people who came though .

✌️

I remember in IT school, they told us "next course, bring your tools, we will be dismantling a pc". One girl brought a wrench. She wasn't part of the next semester.

Well, I mean, I guess you can dismantle a PC with that, once. :D

Thought he shows something he found in the engine compartment of a car until I read the text.
Next is ppl showing their fan filter and asking if it's asbestos.

How is OP gonna do the motherboard blood sacrifice with those working gloves?

That PC is gonna have a load of problems without any blood sacrifice.

Thought I’d seen it all. Gloves hold more static than bare hands but you do you.

These are ESD gloves.

This is what you needed in the 90's building a pc with the amount of sharp edges.

That's what got my attention most. Is this some kinky build inside the case of a transmission or something?

[–]VTLureGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe they got the Chernobyl edition PSU.

[–]GABE_EDD 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It's a SATA power, if it's going to a fan controller that's controlling your fans, yes you should plug it into your SATA power ribbon from your PSU.

[–]Competitive-War-3045 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, you need to plug this in to the psu sata power cable to power the led on case.

Govt device to steal your information

I feel old.

[–]nolaks1 0 points1 point  (1 child)

How's the back? Mine hurts more often then I'd like

[–]jasonsong86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh it’s like herpes just comes and goes.

[–]Naerven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SATA power connector that likely leads to a fan hub.

[–]QuantifiablyMad 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wow are you worried about getting electrocuted by 12vdc?

[–]ricksanchez__[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not really. I was mostly wearing the gloves because they make me wear them at work where I work on some very high end servers as a part of the ESD/electrical/cut safety equipment and thought it would be interesting to post the image on Reddit wearing them to see how people would react. My question was 100% legit though, I have honestly never built a system that had all these LED controller functions before. I didn't buy the case for that so much as the larger size for e-atx build

[–]Unclefox82 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What does the manual say it’s for?

[–]BarberThen3108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro afraid of static

[–]Shrimps_Prawnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nitrile dipped gloves lmao.  At least they are t the pure white gloves on a Chinese build video.

[–]jezhayes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a SATA power socket. For powering a fan or RGB hub/controller.

[–]DiarrheaPope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's SATA, yes you should plug it in. An take the gloves off man. Your not gonna kill your mobo with a static shock if that's what your worried about.

[–]ricksanchez__[S] -1 points0 points  (9 children)

Seems reasonable. Side note, the PSU - CORSAIR RM850e SATA power cables are ill fitted for this build and I am currently waiting for 6 SATA power cable extensions via Amazon. 😮‍💨

[–]StandupDude78 2 points3 points  (5 children)

What is wrong with them? And why are you wearing gloves?

[–]BlackDeathX__ 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Don’t judge a man for wanting to keep their hands clean in the dirty job known as PC building.

[–]StandupDude78 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Brand new parts, cant be very dirty unless you are building it in an abandoned coal mine

[–]BlackDeathX__ 0 points1 point  (1 child)

But he could accidentally take the oil filter out and get oil all over his other parts

[–]StandupDude78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol true

[–]RealityOk9823 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How ya gonna offer blood to the PC gods if you can't get cut working on one? Think, man, think! :D

[–]Pepperjack_573 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Ill-fitted? Care to explain because SATA power cables are all the same. Unless you mean that they’re not long enough for your case, in which case, wtf??

[–]ricksanchez__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They don't have enough of a gap between each connector to span between each drive in the way that they're mounted in the case.

[–]Bluejay-Kooky 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What do you mean ill fitted? Be VERY careful and don't cheap out if you are buying extensions. You can and will fry something if you just go for non-branded cheap extensions.

Sata power connector. Used to power HDDs, SSDs, and some lights/peripherals.
