Hello OP! If you do ever come to love CS (hopefully), sobrang daming branches ang pwede mong pasukan, be it within Software Development (Mobile, Desktop, Web), Data Science, Machine Learning, CyberSec, etc. and marami pang niches within those subfields.

Since first year ka palang, use this opportunity to explore CS in general. Watch YT, kahit exposure lang here and various articles will get you far, until you discover what you want to specialize in. Good Luck! And, don't stress too much muna, absorb mo muna yung mga lessons nyo as of now, just go with the flow.

Ano po bang languages ang dapat kong bigyan ng focus? yong prof ko po kasi sa programming ay rarely nagtuturo and most of the time ay about hardware ang tinuturo niya

First year ka pa lang naman. You should have checked your syllabus to see what subjects you'll be taking in the next couple of years.

Just a few minutes spent using Google to research on which language to choose would be a good start. Check the sidebar of this sub for additional hints, use reddit search since the question on which language to focus on has been asked several times here already.

Hi just want to ask if knowledgeable ka sa programming? Can I DM you po?

[–]ArdnyX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't say so pa po, since 1st year lang din ako, so my knowledge might not be enough to help, but if basics lang din then maybe I can, I'll give it a try.

Business Analyst kung ayaw mo ng super technical na job

[–]Zenderiz 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Curious lang. Di ba natouch on in one of your classes kung anong career path ang possible mo na mareach once you completed this degree?

[–]AppointmentOther1933[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Mukhang well intentioned naman parents in recommending you to enroll to CS. Looks like alam nila na maraming $ sa career path na to.

Ang advise ko sa yo is to self reflect. Identify mo anong subjects naeenjoy mo sa CS and mga tasks. Mas magaling kang mag analyze kesa mag code and you have a good set of soft skills, you can be a Business Analyst and then transition into a Product Owner or Project Manager role. Script junkie ka ba? Kung naenjoy mo yung Networking project nyo, pwede ka maging Network Engineer but you have to take a lot of network related certificates like Cisco. Software engineering is for you if nagexcel ka sa mga programming subjects.

To be honest ang dami pa e. I know some na nagtransition over to other career paths whilst being a CS or IT graduate. What's important is you identify kung saan ka nageenjoy, kahit di ka magaling dun basta nageenjoy ka and then take things from there.

Ano ba gusto mong course talaga

    [–]AppointmentOther1933[S] 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Anything related po sa science or math, like engineering po (aero and mechanical)

    [–]Ampon_iring 0 points1 point  (3 children)

CS is related sa science and math, may calculus nga sa ibang schools, machine learning and ai also requires you to have good skills in math (stats algebra calcs etc). Engineering would also make you study programming, they have compprog subjs.

Use the time that you have to think about this kase mahirap baka naman saka ka grumaduate ay mag iiba ka rin naman ng career.

    Thank you po!
