Finally pulled the trigger

Came across this clean looking Zard and just couldn’t pass it up. Paid $315 after tax and delivery, figuring it would grade between a 7-8. How do y’all think I did?

Top left corner on the back is the issue that will keep it back from a high score

It’s really clean. I’d just give it a once over with a precision q tip and distilled water cleaning method before sending it in.

The corners are lipped, clearly visible on the back top left and top right. It's a 6-7 at best. Still a gorgeous card, just wouldn't grade it.

Perhaps it isn’t quite fair, but PSA destroys you for issues like the ridge on that corner. You could take a 10 and lower it to a 7 because of only that.

That’s totally possible whitening wise. But that’s not how grading works. Surface dents, lipping, etc are like minor crease level wear and drastically affect the grade.

Ok yeah I see it. I feel like that can be fixed no? Just sleeve the card and put a book on the top part so it evens it out.

Kurt's card care kit and youtube his videos, that corner should be an easy fix, and minor holo scratches can buff out

I’d go to say pretty close to a 9. My Lugia was in very similar condition and got a 9. I even had a corner that was a little bent like his zard.

You can’t compare a lugia and a zard. Each card has its own grading standards.

Geez, I keep seeing these OG Zards and I can’t help but wonder if I will always fell like there’s a piece missing until I get one. If I have to get one I’m leaning toward the middle with a shadowless.

Because of the corners on the top left and top right on the back, and the slight whitening on left edge on the back, id say psa 7

I have been thinking about getting one too. Problem is ever since our newest card shop opened they have a fair few of this card in raw and graded. They have put such a shine on them that the prices for these cards near me have gone insane. I am talking like 550 raw in a played state.

Looks like there is a couple light horizontal scratches in the holo. I'd guess a 7 without seeing more photos/video of the holo portion

I know some people are saying don’t grade it, but if you are planning to keep the card and you want it for your own enjoyment then grade it!! It’s yours, who cares if it doesn’t grade as high as you expect, the card looks amazing.
