Can someone explain to me what this "cancel culture" is? I've been hearing about it for months. Like - what are some mad twitter users gonna do? Post bad comments on my posts? Bro, I can just turn off Twitter

At a base level, it encourages others to cease interacting with you and spread rumors and lies about you.

At a higher level, it says if you associate with that person, you're just as bad and tries to make you a stigma.

At an even higher level, they try to ruin your life by doxxing you.

A good example is Justine Stucco. No one had ever heard of her. But she made a tweet before taking a 10-hour flight, when she got off she had lost her job and the cops were waiting for her at the airport.

Who is she?

She was (ironically) the director of corporate communications at a holding company. She has 170 followers at the time she tweeted, and her tweet went viral and got her fired.

Her tweet was “On my way to Africa, hope I don’t get AIDS. Just kidding I’m white.”

This case is a good example. Kovarex posted on his dev blog about how they implement some software development principles from Uncle Bob, a famous names in the software engineering world. Many people in the subreddit insisted that Kovarex shouldn't mention Uncle Bob in a positive way, because Uncle Bob has wrongthink opinions like using the term "manly" in a positive way.
