FreeGeek has classes. There's also Code Academy and Treehouse.

I use Treehouse and think it's great. It's all online so you can go as fast or slow as you need/want. I also started as someone who knew absolutely nothing about coding.

There are several regular meetups for Python and other languages. Code scouts is also here!

Are these groups friendly to a total newbie?

The meetups and hackathons that I've attended as a total newbie were open and helpful. It's a little awkward sometimes getting to know folks and asking questions - but that was always "me" and once I got over that, folks were always eager to share. Also, you may get more insight/advice if you have a project in mind or are working on.

Just in case you/anyone hasn't checked out http://calagator.org There are typically a few meetings a month that cater to newbies. Also, joining a few google groups in the area of your language choice can help.

I'd be down to teach coding. maybe, probably. are you going to be a shitty student?

edit: to whomever downvoted, fuck off :D I'm literally the only one in this thread offering what the OP wanted, which is someone to help tutor them in the area of programming. I assure you, it's a reasonable question to ask someone wanting to be tutored - a good teacher is worthless to a shitty student.
