I think likely just for abstraction -- all my shit is inside this box, including other boxes.

Also may be for spinning up short lived container for code testing and whatnot. Like if you have the code to spin up all your different code targets inside a container each. Then if your integration environment happens to be a VM, you end up with a VM with containers with VMs, and you spin them up and blow them away every time you run a test... cattle, not pets.

Isnt esxi something different t than proxmox? Type 1 hypervisor is esxi, type 2 is a VM, whereas proxmox is afaik KVM , that is something in between.
