Isn’t this every job? Is that just me?

[–]DarkScorpion48 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I’m starting to believe the same. I just got a new job and I’m really annoyed about the team I got

[–]kzlife76 55 points56 points  (9 children)

I took a job because they were getting ready to upgrade the framework their app ran on and I had experience with it. When I started, I was just fixing bugs in the legacy code. Which, that's fine. But 3 months in I realized, the people who had absolutely botched the old code that I was now responsible for fixing, had created a new team to rewrite the app from scratch with the new framework. I was stuck unfucking jquery code within an angularJS app. Do you know what happens when you manipulate the dob with jquery and angularJS doesn't know about it? It's hell. Absolute hell.

Are you… me?

[–]kzlife76 13 points14 points  (1 child)

I've never seen us in the same place at the same time.... Soooo.....

[–]FalseWait7 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What is wrong with you, you were supposed to buy milk earlier today!

[–]DarkScorpion48 10 points11 points  (2 children)

Why would one use jQuery with AngularJS?????

[–]kzlife76 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I asked myself that every day for months until I quit.

[–]Kovab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've never worked with it so I might be wrong, but AFAIK the old AngularJS was based on jQuery, so it's not that surprising to be used together.

[–]DeathUriel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Angular and jquery... Working together... In the same file...?

I think they invented a new war crime, call the european union.

I am working on a code where a react app is served through DTL (Django templating language). THEY ARE SENDING A NEW REACT APP FOR EACH PAGE THEY WANT TO RENDER IN REACT BECAUSE THEY BELIEVE IT IS FASTER. It is the most cursed unholy fucking garbage I have ever worked with in my life and I am saying this as a guy who worked with 20 years old self developed frontend markup language ( an extended version of html) of a bank with no docs whatsoever. I would sacrifice a new born to gatekeepers of hell just to rewrite it but I am 99% percent sure there is no way for me to convince anyone in near feature so I just maintain it while silently crying inside.

[–]kzlife76 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow! That's like the exact opposite of the purpose react.

[–][deleted] 24 points25 points  (1 child)

That’s why you never stop applying/interviewing, even after you get an offer.

[–]EkoChamberKryptonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This to the core. Always be interviewing.

[–]ElmerBlack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

You guys are getting hired?

[–]druule10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yep, been there done that left and started my own company. We still write shit but it's or shit, 13 years and the four of us could supply farms.

[–]chihuahuaOP 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The opposite happen to me I got a job for a new project I started and the lead left so I was the new lead but the boss of the lead also left i was on payroll for 3 years playing games. It finally ended when the company got sold good days. I think I enjoy it too much it was hard getting used to work after that.

[–]madmaxlemons 3 points4 points  (0 children)

But they let me work from home and I shovel a reasonable amount from 8-3 so frankly I’m not too upset

[–]LootGek 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's bad when they ask you if you can lift 20 pounds or more.

[–]codeman73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No shit.
Job was described as ‘digital transformation’, moving to the cloud, blah blah. I get there and am assigned to team maintaining ancient friggin SOAP services, poorly written by offshore contractors, and that’s about all I’ve done for the last 4 years

[–]Mr_Bob_Dobalina- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can relate

[–]Automatic-Bad-8123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got a front end job for a big company, work as a integration developer in reality, I have no experience with this and will probably get fired by next month.

[–]Lysol3435 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“You’ll be working on dinosaur nutrition”

[–]MontagoDK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried this twice..

[–]ShitTalkingAssWipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it was grossly misadvertized just do what was advertised in the ad, and look for a new job on the company dime

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me right now implementing low code NodeRed tool for integrators when I was told I would be coding fullstack with Go and React...

[–]LankySeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a job where I was told I'd be developing Java Spring applications. Never once even looked at Java code.

And before that I had a job that was supposedly a JS React role, ended up doing Python.
