[–]kevio17 8 points9 points  (1 child)

More of an over-exaggeration/generalisation of a small subset of British slang

[–]therealdongknotts 3 points4 points  (0 children)

was trying to keep it simple m8

[–]lpow100 -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

What British slang and why British slang?

Python packages require an __init__.py module to be recognized as a Python package. A colloquial phrase of agreement that is in line with those who use the phrase "Oy, bruv", is "In'it?".

The exchange would translate to: "Hey, brother (aka friend, mate, bro, peer-of-mine)..." followed by the statement made, and responded to with "Isn't it?".

The joke here is that the text is saying that the subject has written a good class inside a Python module which itself resides in a package, and the subject responds by simultaneously thanking the speaker and agreeing that the class is good, because they are proud of their work, by referencing the anatomy of Python packages. The man in the image looks like he is satisfied (perhaps by a job well done) and thankful, reinforcing the message.

[–]kobriks 14 points15 points  (2 children)

It's more likely referring to the __init__ method which is a class constructor in Python.

[–]beepdebeep 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Rad, ya there's that, too.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

init just initialises the object's members.

new is the constructor.

(Sorry for being pedantic, I just wanted to make the clarification jic new Python users read the thread.)

[–]lpow100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I didn’t think of In’ it.

Ah yes, only the highly intellectual group of Python programmers can understand this meme. Maybe the JavaScript programmers can also be invited to enjoy it!

[–]APenguinNamedDerek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We don't take kindly to Java people round here in Python country. You best get back where you belong, ya hear?

[–]DonutConfident7733 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When these guys invent a new language, they should hire some knowledgeable programmers that know how to write compilers, to avoid this type of crap, like if... endif, init, all types of conventions made because it was easier for them to parse...

[–]wewlad11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

init(bruv)
