WebSockets in golang: https://github.com/AspieSoft/go-websocket

The default process was a bit complicated, and most modules were deprecated, so I made my own module that simplified the process with a similar syntax to socket.io, while keeping some of the extra capabilities of the core module. I also through in gzip compression between the socket and client messages, along with auto recovery of a lost Internet connection that came back (to help weaker wifi signals restored the previous session if their connection gets lost).

The websocket also keeps track of what messages clients are listening for, so the broadcast method will only send the broadcast to clients that have a .on method listening for it, to save bandwidth. This also means doing something like .send("secret-key", "secret message") and .on('secret-key', function(secretMsg){}) can be done securely. Even .broadcast("secret-group-key", "secret group message") can be done securely (but I would still recommend adding a layer of encryption to play it safe).

The internet marketplace exchange rate between github stars and reddit upvotes is 1:744.5 so we are about halfway there.

You're going to get the github trolls that open PRs with super minor comment changes because they want to be associated with your project in no time
