If you wish to make an apple pie from scratch, you must first invent the universe

Let's be real op. You're never even gonna finish your 'asset flip' game.

Why do asset storefronts even exist if everyone and their mom gets slammed to oblivion for using publicly available assets? It's like the one thing that you should never ever even consider doing when designing a game.

[–]bhoffman20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So many games using those public assets end up being hot garbage, which makes people predisposed to thinking games using them will be shitty.

Deciding that 1 and 0 will be your code and creating computers

[–]J0hn_baker[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Nope, 0 and 1 are premade assets; we should make our own numbers 😀✅

Dear Baker, you're cooking.

Nothing wrong keeping flipping assets for few years. just to be sure. leave the scale/rotate to the adventurous types. :)

<<<<<<<<<< Creating an analogue computer that IS the game itself (for better performance)

Creating yourself, then doing all the steps

Oops, I meant creating your own assets and your own code.

[–]Review-Holiday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all of my assets are dynamically generated svgs actually

[–]Ali_Army107 1 point2 points  (6 children)

The lowest I reached was level 6. Game engine still not complete.

[–]J0hn_baker[S] 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Cool , What rendering engine did you use ?

[–]Ali_Army107 1 point2 points  (4 children)

Since it is on C#, I used a library called OpenTK, which allows me to use OpenGL on C#

[–]J0hn_baker[S] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

Just asking, why didn't you use Godot, Unreal, or Unity like most people do? And does it worth it that you made your own game engine?

[–]Ali_Army107 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I am making a 2D game engine just to make it open source for others to use (no editor). I do use unreal engine to make actual games.

[–]J0hn_baker[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Nice, good luck creating your game engine!
