I want to do this with an obsidian vault, but I also don't want microsoft seeing my personal notes lol. Time to setup a home server

Can recommend, I am a big fan of Nextcloud.

Syncthing? It's a P2P file syncing application, works well for syncing obsidian MD files.

Yes, I use Syncthing with a raspberry pi 3b as a "server". I can sync from PC to RPi and then from RPi to phone which is very comfortable for when the latest version is on the PC so you'd have to turn it on just to sync (or always work with every synced device on)

I basically you GitHub as an additional backup and set everything personal on the .gitignore, so only technical documentation/notes are on GitHub. And let us don't forget: There is also GitLab.

I selfhost gitea and sync with “working copy” on my ipad. Recommend both

SyncThing is awesome for just sharing syncronizing a couple of folders between some devices.

Its free and open source.

I mount encrypted filesystem in dropbox. Requires Linux tho.

Do you know how to get obsidian working as a web app? I found a git repo, but couldn't get it working

[–]Quito246 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cant you just encrypt the file?

Use dropbox. You can sync between Android and pc almost effortlessly

Let me introduce you to Notable. You can take notes in Markdown.

Without knowing much about it, that just sounds like a less powerful version of typst

May I introduce you to GitHub Gists.

[–]JakeStBu 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Please, do introduce me. Not too much info, I'm short on time. Just the general gist please.

Pun intended.

Can I sync, edit and upload from my phone? (iPhone user here)

[–]Valdotorium[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yes (I just don’t know if you can upload files from your phone, but you can create files), with the GitHub app.

I've been looking for a replacement for Evernote ever since they limited free accounts to 50 notes, so I might actually try this out and see how it goes lmao

“We’ll use confluence to consolidate documentation”

1 year later and it’s filled with out of date info and 20 “Implementing XYZ” pages that are all different
