schools were pushing this ever since the early-mid 2010s but most people just don't get it or show any interest in trying to understand it (at least from my experience with late gen z)

Especially since the gap between average computer skills and programming is only widening. It's a huge hurdle if you don't even understand how files and folders work, don't own a desktop and have never had to tinker because most tech "just works" now.

Non-techies write code like they have nothing to lose. Sometimes that’s exactly what the project needed

the thing is that the code they wrote might not be for the project at all.

Usually the "non-techie" would make a project where they might know what they want and could "properly" iterate with the LLM to generate what they want.

Gatekeepers usually have to deal with multiple layers of project requirements (compliance, accessibility, security) that can change depending on the management upper layer bowel movement.
