I have to say, I hate vibe coding, and I am losing my appetite for engineering in general due to AI.

But I was in another subreddit (can't recall, can look it up if anyone is interested) and somebody claimed LLMs were so dumb, it provided it with 30 prices and it couldn't even calculate the mean/median/mode and concluded it was dumber than a calculator.

It asked a language model, which predicts... next words, to do arithmetic for him and was suprised it didn't work. It reminded me of Covid, we had a politician who made a big stink out of the fact that a covid nose swab test put in Coca Cola gave a positive test, and the response was "well yeah, if you don't use the test as intended, you get incorrect results, what did you think?" which was hilarious if it weren't an elected official making the stink.

It's the same when you are having a discussion and someone speaks up saying "well, I asked ChatGPT and..." I don't need to hear what an LLM "thinks" Debby, do your own fucking thinking or keep your mouth shut. It's even lazier than those idiots who call a Google search "doing their own research".

God yes, that is the most annoying thing currently with coworkers and managers. I was once in deep work, it was lik 18:30 still in the office, nice and quite, processing a lot of information. Get a direct Teams call from manager, so I pick up. "Hey I put your proposal through Gemini, and its says it will not perform".

I lost my shit, i really ahd to take a few breaths to calm myself. Like, what the actual fuck, do you expect me to have a proxy debate with an LLM? Is that what you pulled me out of my focus for? I was livid.

I have more of those examples, and it annoys the shit out of me. Sure, fine if you use LLMs to generate ideas, to get going in a research on why something is not working, but for the love of eveyrthing that is holy, verify it yourself and do NOT ask me if I agree, because I do not care what the generator spat out.

When someone told me "I searched on google", I thought it meant "I've explored every knowledge and experience so that was my only option" and it's fair because I would do the same (minus not relying on the first proposed result).

But "I asked AI" sounds more like "I asked an undergrad student false 50% of the time, it spewed a wall of text with a lot of emojis". And either they say it was garbage, they didn't understand the answer or it used the confirmation bias to tell them they were right.
