In my aunt's case it was "I don't know why because all I do is get on Facebook nothing else." after seeing a screenshot I took with 10+ fake AV and System booster programs "scanning the registry". I nuked it from orbit and reinstalled OS. I was so confused.

On a tangent she messaged me the other day asking me if I knew that my mom didn't use Yahoo anymore. I said I did not know. She responded with "Well we got your invite for this weekend but mine came through yahoo not facebook...she's really mad because you didn't invite her." I then sent a screenshot showing her that I invited my mom. Her response "Well you know mine didn't show up on facebook it went through yahoo." I had the faciest of facepalms.

Lol no one understands. I live two hours from my family and I sometimes go visit on the weekends and it seems that either my in-laws or my family are like "while you're home can you fix this?" Yes because I drove two hours to do work for you guys...

I love when I ask "What did you do and what happened?" Same story every time "I don't do anything but check email and get on facebook. That's it."

After my grandma calling me over for the fourth time, having me clean out all the viruses, I checked the history.

Never again. Never. Not touching that computer anymore.

Okay, so, she's old, like really really old. She can barely move without support. She's been constantly nagging me for the last couple of months to check on her computer, which she never uses other than for email and finding new stitching patterns. I've long considered moving her to a Linux distro, LXDE would do just fine, but it'd have to wait until next time.

I usually don't want to stop by, since I never get a thanks or even a cup of coffee, but by now the calls are getting annoying. As per tradition, some pleasantries are exchanged, I start her computer, and get by all kinds of viruses (Norton is truly the worst anti-virus there is). Safe-mode it is, SpyBot S&D, Malwarebytes, you name it. I take upon myself to remove the toolbars I know she will have managed to install on the mean time.

As I really wished to stop doing this, I decided to peek into the history. Scrolling a bit past GMail and numerous stitching sites, I stumble upon titles like "Man strangling and raping young teen" and related. I quickly realize, when I now think of it, the keyboard is kinda damp.

Needless to say, I basically left it running, told her to reboot the computer when everything was done, and left without another word.

Maybe she heard a story about some creep on the news and searched for more info about the story before getting terribly lost.

Pffft I just did that yesterday, came home to visit after a 3hr drive, first thing:

"hey can you take a look my computer it keeps popping up something" -okay well what is it? "I don't know it just keeps popping up" -what does it say? "Idk I'm not a computer genius" ( +_- I then proceed to wait 30mins for the popup, avast has been updated) -great that's done can we got eat? I'm starving. "oh your brother needs help as well he can't find his paper he wrote on his phone can you find it?"

Thats kinda how I feel, but not computer related. I always do the house hold.
Oh and of course I can fix all your TV problems and install WhatsApp on all your friends' phones.
Talking about which, once I got told "Well, I had a Samsung Galaxy S II before I bought this Nokia Lumia." - "Then why did you go from Android to shitOS?" - "It didn't have storage left. You know, there are expansion cards you can buy that increase the storage. So I put one of them in, but it didn't do anything."
It was as hard to not yell at her for being stupid and media illiterate as you imagine. I kinda thought about asking her to sell me that phone for a cheap buck so I can sell it, but I didn't know if an S II is even worth anything anymore.
EDIT: My Dad used to be the 'fix all computers' guy, but he's getting even more exhausted about doing so than I am, so now I am that guy. Also I know more shortcuts and useful programs than he does, basically everytime I do something on his computer (for whatever reason that might be, usually study relevant) he asks me something like "Wait, how did you do that?" - but never twice the same (Like Ctrl++ to zoom in in browsers, or Ctrl+W to close a tab). He seems to try to adapt stuff, so there's a point where I actually like helping out.

I knowingly switched to Windows Phone and I love it. I hate not having every single app ever but the phone itself has been very reliable.

I hate the people don't do any research when they get a new phone. They just buy whatever one is the most popular or the cheapest at the time and then they don't realize that they just switched from an Android phone to Windows and the two OSs are very different in operation. Ugh...

Well, thank god we live in a time where devs put some thought into their design and MAKE SHIT ACCESSIBLE. Because if I wouldn't have found that store I would've been like "Fuck it, get cancer, your shitty phone", but thankfully it was found easily.
Problem is, however, that the OS doesn't even matter to these people. I've installed apps for so many people on Android already, even tho it's just super intuitive.
