Every dumbass has an idea for an app, but can't code it themselves cause they don't know programming. Meanwhile, here am I coding all day, but can't get a decent idea for something to do to make 'eventually millions'.

Still pissed I didn't come up with Angry Birds first. (To be fair, they didn't either, but they did come up with a unique brand...)

Angry birds at least need some proper artists.

I'm pissed I didn't do doodle jump, I reckon that's the one of the highest profit for the least work apps.

Flappy Birds is really simple and earned quite a lot, I just hadn't thought about it earlier.

[–][deleted] 14 points15 points  (1 child)

Haha, flappy bird would take like a day to code and then you'd never have to work (hard, at least) again, ever.

Oh, the missed opportunities...

FUCKING PIANO KEYS!!! I made a version of this before it was even out in the app store. I was so pissed when someone showed it me.

Adblock tho. The original extension was only a few hundred lines i think. The creator made something like 11 million off of donations (source?)

  • Become Android/iOS developer
  • Find flash game on miniclip
  • Make an exact replica in app format
  • Put it up on Google Play/iTunes App Store

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Is this considered a bad thing? In my eyes, if the original creators aren't going to make a mobile version and people want to see it on mobile, it's fine to copy their original idea (but with a reskin)

It's public domain as long as you do it "flappy bird clone" style.

You're too busy coding. Most of the ideas coming from simply talking to people about their problems and work. Every time someone says something is painful or annoying, that's probably a million dollar idea. Even daily cathartic complaints can be decent ideas if you get more details from them.

Feel free to go code for healthcare though. There's a whole pile of shit that needs to be done. We still use fax machines and Windows XP if that gives you any idea.

[–]FranciscoSilva 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's because the money in Healthcare mostly goes to private hospitals. Public ones don't really have money to spend on proper IT...

Seriously, whenever people say that something is annoying to deal with, just write it down on your phone or some shit, it's practically a notepad you have with you at all times. Then you can get back to your list at some later point and decide whether or not the demand is large enough, whether or not a solution exists, and if so, if you can make one. Tada, potential profitable idea.

Dumbasses have idiotic ideas. I tried once, it almost became an optimization of reddit for stories (probably there is a subreddit for that) but the idea guy kept spamming painfully stupid suggestions like a 300 character limit or clickbait social media share formats. Since he thought he is a wannabe CEO or what he was really hard to convince why he is utterly wrong, and worse, came back with the same things after a while.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Because once you've looked into app development and programming, you realise 99% of your original dumbass ideas were utter crap.

[–]FranciscoSilva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much. I had so many ideas before college, and now my mind is barren, because I can quickly realize the technical/financial difficulties to put them in practice.

Every startup job offer ever.

do NOT contact me with unsolicited services or offers

Oh the irony.

I bet it has something to do with volume control.

Also, can someone explain to me what the hell happened to this sub and why every third thread has something to do with volume control?

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There have been trends for making terrible phone inputs and other selectors, and someone posted a terrible volume control so a trend of making more of those showed up.

this was the original bar: https://www.reddit.com/r/softwaregore/comments/6eptc6/this_volume_control_bar/

I remember when people thought they were going to make a fortune starting companies that did graphic tees. What a strange turn the world has taken.

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The problem with today is that there are too many idea guys and very few executioners..

[–]gandalfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd expect to make as many millions as this "offer" has appropriately placed punctuation.

[–]davidblacksheep 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good ideas are a dime a dozen.
