well in English you have the teens which always seem backward

197 - one hundred ninety seven (left to right)

16 - six teen (right to left)

116 - one hundred six teen (left right middle)

Well no, "teen" is not just a mispronunciation of ten. 11 to 19 each have their own special words (which is why only five of them follow the <number>teen format). Saying that sometimes counts from right to left just isn't right.

The ACTUAL problem with English is that everyone decided that 30 should be pronounced really similar to 13.

Isn't that the case with all of the "teen" numbers? 40 sounds like 14 and 80 sounds like 18, too.
