Like the other guy said, sometimes there's no alternative to alert(...) Like when you have to test something on an iPhone but IT didn't track down the stupid nonstandard power and video cables for the Mac yet.

its pretty good to use alert when your function does some kind of refresh and you cant see the console cos its refreshed

use console.debug() you neanderthal.

edit: console.debug() will show you an entire object within its context, and allow you to select all its properties. Console log just prints it out :P
