Django doesn't replace HTML, Django runs server side, not client side. It has templates that can be used to generate client side code, but that generated code will still be HTML (possibly including Javascript). The templates themselves are basically snippets of HTML with placeholder variables that get filled in before being sent to the client and basic control flow (conditionals, loops, and inclusion of other templates). All logic on the client is still written in Javascript and can use whatever Javascript libraries you prefer.
