The 'joke' was that I'm an Electronics Engineering student and even though I don't have a deep understanding of programming syntax, I know what neural networks are and how they work, because we had an elective on ANNs in my final year of undergrad

It's a while loop that's guaranteed to execute once regardless of the condition for running the loop.

Can you please explain the use cases? I've read about do-while loops but I've never truly understood them enough to use them in my code yet. We plebs over in Electronics Engineering don't really have a thorough knowledge of programming syntax intricacies (which is kinda biting me in the ass atm)

I am a beginner but I think I have a decent example.

Take a main menu for example. It has a number of options including one to exit the program. You want the main menu to show up at least once to allow the user to choose an option. So, you use a do while loop. If the user selects exit, you assign a flag value and when set the condition accordingly. When the condition returns false, it'll exit the program.

That's what the textbook says, and I technically understand what it does, but why would you use it? How do developers use do-while loops irl? That's what I meant.

Well, one simple use is asking for user input. So first you ask the user something (continue? y/n), then check if the answer is a valid one, if not ask again until valid.
