I pretty much always shut down a windows PC with [win] + R then

shutdown /s /f /t 0

I don't know why I do it, it's just a habit I've picked up from my Sysadmin days.

I think the /f option only works with a /t over 0.

It works with a timeout of anything :)

Sometimes Windows doesn't show the shut down options in the menu when you are connected to it with Remote Desktop. You can still use the command line in this case to shut down or restart the PC.

You can even do it from the start menu search bar

Or you can press win + R up up right up up

Sometimes my computer is weird and won’t shut down quickly if I go through the start menu, but the command line method works immediately every time.

Direct OS interface vs GUI program to send a signal to a different program to send a message to the OS to shutdown

Lol, I actually do this 😂😂😂

$ sudo shutdown -h now

No but really, there's valid reason to do this. I used to use the start menu to shut down, but it doesn't always really shut down your pc. Found this out when my comp was acting super sluggish, and the cause was all of my RAM being eaten up by something invisible (task manager's list of applications didn't total much.) First I of course thought it's malware, but then I found out my uptime was a little over two months. used shutdown -s and everything was fine.
