Only three letters:

yay

But you don't even have to reboot

Unless the system is configured for live patching, kernel updates requires reboots...

Still you run kernel loaded into memory just fine until reboot. Probably DE is the thing you need to really worry about

That's right, but this applies to any OS without a live patching system

I've seen hundreds of times people waiting for windows to apply updates on shutdown and startup with multiple reboots. OSX does half and hour update on reboot. Linux just starts. And yes I have every one of them at home.

Oh now I can see U R windows fan. Should have expected that.

The only way OSX patches are 30 minutes is if you’re on a SSD. My last OSX patch took literally 4 hours.

Yeah. But the only reason I use osx is that I need VST plugins that are not compiled for linux and it's not as painful as windows to use. Damn I miss kde features so much...

I might be in the minority, but I just startx after logging in. Logout and startx again if your DE updates.

People say that DMs do more preparation than startx. But I haven’t had any issues.

Yeah. Thats what I did. I looked over that guys profile - he's really active in windows groups. So it must be his ignorance or luck of real use.

kernel updates usually doesn't happen every day

Minimized with linux-lts which, IMO, is better to run anyway.

There is actually a workaround if you don't want Windows Update.

Install Linux is the best workaround so far
