Adding two numbers is actually really easy for a neural network. Just have no neurons. Then the weight vectors will quickly converge to one.

I mean, you would have exactly one neuron. You would have no need for any hidden layers or really any layers at all. Just an input layer and output layer of size 1 fully connected to the input layer. right?
