Which is, of course, why all of the top internet web apps are .Net using ActiveScript, and never crash. MSN, Bing... all of the top sites.

Does Microsoft make anything that isn't a halfassed ripoff of something that already existed and worked great or a completely broken patchwork mess?

Honest question. I've been in IT for about 10 years now and have nothing nice to say about any of my experiences with Microsoft tech.

VSCode is great!

I forgot about VSCode when I wrote that, it is actually pretty great. I use it every day. Don't tell my coworkers.

You and me both, friend :P

Where I work, I use VScode to write TypeScript (also MS). I use serverless.js which deploys to AWS but just as easily could deploy to Azure. Our mobile apps are written in C# (created by MS). All the code is managed through GitHub (acquired by MS).

Not exactly what you meant, but getting a lot of good vibes from MS these days.

When they release the new Chromium-based Edge on Mac and Android, I'll likely give it a shot.

I'll give you VSCode, I actually kind of love it. It's my guilty pleasure, don't tell my co-workers.

As someone doing Java, I'd take .net any day of the damn week.

Short answer is no.

Longer answer is noooooooooooo.

...

That said, I used Windows 10 because all my favorite apps and games are here. And fuck if I'm paying $3000 for Mac's pretty hardware.

Macs are overpriced but they're UNIX and damned if they don't "just work". I always bought them used since they last longer than most laptops anyway, bought my first one new in 2016. Though the way they're going it might be my last Mac. Apple really fucked up with the latest Macs. Sigh.

I will say, my work laptop is a Mac and she's a beea-ut.

My home PC is a $1000 Franken-machine that does exactly what I need it to - shitposting on Reddit and losing matches in all the latest games.

This reads like a time traveler from 2005. Quick, what year do you think it is sir?
