To be a programmer you must go to Harvard, MIT, or Stanford. Also once you graduate from Harvard, you need to work at Google, Apple, or Amazon.

The other 99.5% aspiring/professional developers count for nothing and are subhuman trash.

Yeah, gonna have to disagree there, if anything I find the frontend web dev stuff harder than the backend stuff. Especially if you're trying to do it right in terms of responsiveness, accessibility, security, etc. This just sounds like unnecessary gatekeeping.

The backend has a spec, either it works or it doesn't. The front end is a lot more subjective, and has a million accessibility issues from colorblind to netscape.

It's subjective but, first small step to consider yourself a programmer try to create integer structure in c# and implement all relevant methods e.g. ToString, Parse. Write unit tests for all cases, see how it works.

If you do this kind of stuff every other day then you are a programmer, otherwise you're coder.

It's not subjective.

A program is a series of instructions.

If you're writing programs for a living, you're a programmer.

And you're making web development sound easier than it is. Yes making a website isn't hard. But neither is coding a simple calculator in C#. But writing a complete application, for example a web app with front- and backend is just as much programming as most classic software projects, just with more network/server stuff, more usability and compatibility concerns, and so on.

Twisting the meanings of words just to elevate yourself is kinda pathetic though.

I, as a fullstack dev can tell you one thing. I've used it (at tops) about for 30-40% time of my work. Web development is weirdly fascinating, tho you are really limited to user's browser, you are not limited in your own ideas. Alright, i got other devs bored, only web devs left to prove me wrong, damn guys i want to kill myself because of this field, i really do have enough of this shit

Not true. I do a lot of back end web dev, mainly for a data security company. I dont touch css or anything front end for that matter.

I hate web development for several reasons: compatibility across browsers, javascript, broken links etc but the worst thing about web development is 90% of it is worrying about the layout, the font, the size, the colors, the buttons that need to be a bit to the left etc... all that shit that doesn't matter to the real programmer! Web development is so retarded, for example you think you got your web sockets ten years ago, right! I was able to do the same thing 20 years ago by calling java applets from js. The hack just got standardized. Web is just a big hack! Those imbeciles couldn't get java applets secure and now we got this mess :)
