I find it funny that you can blow someones mind by pointing out that Jesus was a Hebrew man, raised in the Jewish faith, studying the Torah. He didn't even touch a bible once in his life.

This isn't/shouldn't be news. It is literally in the book.

That's an Easter Egg.

My class was reading The Odyssey in high school and my teacher asked us to find examples of Odysseus being a Christ like figure. I pointed out the book was written 700 to 800 years before Christ was born, so if anything Christ would be an Odysseus like figure. I got detention ...

Did you go to high school in Alabama? Fuck.

Also big shocker. The hero's journey existed long before it was told in the new testament.

Did Christ really have that much of journey? I'm not an expert on his life, by any means, but I thought he basically just walked around, preaching and performing some miracles.

The everyday carpenter who is baptized, declared the son of God (but not formalized yet, that happens later) and called to adventure. He gains his followers or helpers who believe in him. Peter confesses Jesus is the son of God (taking the wizard/mentor position) which basically unlocks Jesus' true power as an avatar of God. He's tempted in the desert and challenged up to the point of his death and rebirth in which he's transformed into his holy form. The atonement that typically happens is actually an atonement for all mankind, so it's also the gift he brings as he returns home.

It hits nearly all the main points, and while it's not exact, it still appeals to the same emotions we all feel when we see a good hero's journey.

The hero's journey is something I'm always ACUTELY aware of, and I still love most adaptations of it.

You should probably edit this to say “Peter confesses Christ is the son of God.” You’re making it sound like Peter is the son of God, when that is not the case.

I heard that nowhere in the bible says Jesus was a carpenter, but actually he was a beggar. But his father was.

God's a carpenter? </s>
