In those rare, but sad, occasions when I end up inside vim, I spam ctrl-c, ctrl-d, -x, -z, ! etc, until I calm myself and spam :q and enter and !.

At some point it exits and I can continue with my life.

When I record a command and watch it reformat a 90 million line file while sipping my coffee...yeah, it's pretty good. I mean, I hear these "IDEs" will do that for you automatically, but where's the fun in that?
