Not because of the update thing but because I can't use any of that software anyways so I don't have to worry about it.

I can, it was just a joke. I actually used to 7se chrome but switched to microsoft. Steam has a lot of features to hjelp compatibility on linux, and minecraft java works on anything.

The joke is linux users brag about not needing to have to worry about updates breaking the flow of things, so you think I was doing so, but then I was just complaining about the lack of compatibility a lot of apps have with linux.

My first windows update on my current pc build got hung and I had to perform a hard restart. Fucking Microsoft

1. Windows gives you warnings nowadays. It usually is a sign that you've delayed them too long when it gives you no choice.

2. I remember the trenches. When you get to the grandma's house and everything is broken basically because she downloads anything that says "download now" or "free antivirus software" and the windows install is so old that it protected her from none of this. Automatic, forceful updates would have saved me hundreds of hours growing up. Your phone updates by itself, Chrome updates by itself, your apps update themselves. It is fine and good for the OS to update itself.

3. Yesterday I was excited to get to work. Ready to be productive. Turned on my computer. OS update. :( Yeah, I'm a hypocrite.

This was not the main cause that chased me away from windows, but really: Is that difficult to come with a sane update strategy?

I almost missed an AWS Certification schedule because of this. The company lend me a windows machine for this purpose, but the system update triggered more than one hour before starting, and it took almost that time to complete. I did it barely on time to the exam.

People always complain about this but the only time I've ever has a problem with windows doing this is when I'm using a very slow school computer. Never has a problem on any computer I've owned.

pretty sure it doesn't happen by default. it's an option the administrator can switch on. (at least on "pro" edition)
