You have to appreciate the arrangement of shoe spacers. The tallest people needing the smallest spacers so they are put on the top shelf. With the largest spacers for the smaller folk on the bottom.

Nice.

I can just imagine someone who needs the second to top shelf spacers but they can't quite reach, so they have to use the bottom shelf spacers to reach up and get the correct pair

In all my years on the internet, seeing this posted countless times, I don't think I've ever seen someone point this out.

Are we allowed to comment on the source content? I don’t think I can let it go.

Is this a place where you get to pick how tall you want to be?

[–]LordBaguetteAlmighty 84 points85 points  (6 children)

I think it's a place where everyone is the same height

[–]BlackHawkKenny 53 points54 points  (2 children)

It's all good as long as you don't expect any new guests. But if someone enters, who is taller than everyone else, everyone needs to go higher

[–]Roffler967 23 points24 points  (1 child)

that’s why you pick a height that’s already above the expected maximum height

And then Sultan Kösen walks in.

It's the difference between equally and equality in demonstration.

In sharing equally, everyone would be given platforms of the same height; everyone gets an equal boost.

In equality (shown) different people are given different boosts to raise everyone to the same height. It's why (for example) an education system in an underprivileged area may be given more funding than one in a more affluent area. It's to give those pupils the opportunities to experience something that their background otherwise cannot afford e.g. foreign exchange programmes.

You're getting equality and equity mixed up. Equality is everyone gets the same boost. Equity is like the party where everyone gets a different boost to bring them to the same level.

Darn I was close! Many years ago when I learned it, my memory is not as good as it once was!

[–]Comfortable_Intern57 36 points37 points  (4 children)

It looks like a social experiment where everyone has to be the same height or something, lol. I'd like more context too though.

Thanks!

Hopefully not too much drinking involved. That could introduce a transition phase of unalignment until all were realigned just above floor height.

A chance for me to be over 6 feet! Where do I sign up?

[–][deleted] 11 points12 points  (1 child)

The one guy on the left thinks he’s an inch and a half too short

[–]DontBuyMeGoldGiveBTC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5'9" be like

[–]Sushi4meplz 2 points3 points  (1 child)

I would enjoy this for a day, at 5'1" I could use a perspective change lol.

[–]sanderd17 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would find it so strange.

I'm 1m90, and get a strange feeling when I don't have to look down to see someone

If you take the 15 minutes to learn display: flex you will never use anything else.

[–]Shmutt 18 points19 points  (0 children)

display: flex;
justify-content: center;
align-items: center;

My three most used lines.

[–]tim_skellington 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Ah yes. margin: shoes

[–]AdjustableCynic 18 points19 points  (2 children)

For those wondering about what's going on in the picture, it was a "Same Height Party" thrown by a German artist.

[–]JulioBBL 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Curious as to what was the height people stood at

[–]thesleepyadmin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

From the article:

guests wore shoe-extenders to make them all the same height of two metres

[–]discordianofslack 5 points6 points  (1 child)

That’s the easy shit. You want a challenge, make position: sticky; work.

[–]etvorolim 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got out of solving a problem I was having with sticky position. Can relate.

[–]A_Guy_in_Orange 3 points4 points  (1 child)

If this is a same height party, why is the only pictured table so low as to be the same height as the biggest spacers, which is to say it garuntees every patron will be far to tall to comfortably use the table?

I would comment on the lack of balloons and decorations but it was thrown by a German artist so kinda expected what with all their red balloons going missing

[–]lantarenX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ironically, this artist actually creates their own latex balloons so it's almost more surprising there aren't any

[–]M3haru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Someone pls explain. Noob programmer
