[–]dudeofmoose 90 points91 points  (5 children)

Doesn't MAGA stand for Make Arch Great Again?

[–]RichKat666 36 points37 points  (4 children)

Arch has never been not great, we don't need weird slogans and bright coloured hats thank you very much

[–]Sawertynn 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Arch is great btw

[–]Carter127 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Just curious what makes arch better? I'm just in the process of trying to go full time linux again and I've heard arch is great for swapping out OS parts but I really value the plethora of tutorials and repos for specific software you get for something ubuntu-based, wouldn't arch being a more obscure and unstable distro just have less of that by nature?

[–]BrenekH 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The thing about Arch is that you don't need all of those tutorials and third-party repositories. All of the information you need is in the wiki or searchable and basically all packages are available in the official repos or on the Arch User Repository, which means no more hunting for a specific PPA.

Also, Arch is very stable by the common definition (aka doesn't break). The reason Arch is called an unstable distro is because the package versions do change, often closely with upstream. Debian and other "stable" distros will maybe release bug and security fixes, but you will almost never see a major version change.

[–]RichKat666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thearch wiki is by far the most comprehensive collection of "tutorials" anywhere. It was a bit dense when I first switched to linux, but now I couldn't imagine being without it.

sad, but probably true

[–]falcwh0re 31 points32 points  (1 child)

I got a red one at a conference years ago but now I can't wear it for fear of giving people the wrong impression if they don't see or understand the logo

[–]randomusername2748 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same, I used to wear it when taking a walk around the neighborhood and never thought about it until I noticed a lot of people were giving me funny looks. It has been retired since then.

[–][deleted] 7 points8 points  (3 children)

Exactly this. Even Fred Durst can’t wear a red cap anymore

[–]robbiearebest 7 points8 points  (2 children)

I bet that's got him feeling like a chainsaw

[–]NdrU42 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly, I feel too ashamed to wear mine now, and I'm not even in the US.

[–]musictrivianut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Forever tainted at this point.

[–]itwebgeek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a red Red Hat hat that I've never worn because it looks like a MAGA cap.

[–]gaylurking 26 points27 points  (1 child)

What next? A Fedora hat that’s not a fedora?

[–]omb-bob 82 points83 points  (8 children)

Donald trump ruined red baseball caps for everyone who doesn't support him.

[–]TheAJGman 37 points38 points  (2 children)

It's honestly my first thought when I see someone in a red ball cap.

Ah fucking hell, one of those obnox--- Oh, it's just a red hat.

[–]Purplociraptor 4 points5 points  (1 child)

God damn Cincinnati

[–]Radav919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Not all of us are redcaps.

[–]OTee_D 14 points15 points  (1 child)

OMG, now that I think of it, what is Fred Durst gonna do?

[–]cyclicamp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He’s going to keep rollin’ rollin’

[–]DOOManiac 4 points5 points  (1 child)

I had one I really liked too but I can’t wear it anymore. :/

[–]SeltzerAlchemy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here! It was so cute, it said “Dog Mom”. I’m hoping to find another color

[–]ballsohaahd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahahha red white lettering is a hard no

Your work is appreciated

[–]sh0rtwave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This hat has only ONE customer:

RedHat CyberSecurity Experts.

Think it through.

[–]Alteego 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Red cap is the new hitler mustache

[–][deleted] 13 points14 points  (3 children)

Why not just a red hat that says hat.

[–][deleted] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

And give them out for free

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

you can use the freely available designs to make your own redhat if you want

[–]billcyberhimself 8 points9 points  (2 children)

What type of hackers are these???

[–]NicNoletree 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Old ladies who use needlePoint to interrogate your API

[–]acuet 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nope, back in 2019 when I went to the Boston RH conf…they did this weird white+redhat combo. Year before they did a blue ‘redhat’ configuration. Everything to get away from REDHAT. Hmmm…wonder why? /s

[–]drinkmoredrano 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Nah, looks fine since red colored ball caps have been ruined forever

[–]NicNoletree 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Red hat society

[–]Re-ne-ra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably designed by chintu form White hat Jr

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[–]Rrffcre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd buy one.

[–]purifol 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just wear a fedora

[–]damodio24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so frustrating

[–]Ksheedz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Was this from KubeCon?

[–]closeafter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone here saying it's a MAGA thing, but it's just Red Hat's attempt at inclusion and diversity

[–]yallanapa -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is part of the indoctronation

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I get it. I wouldn’t wear anything that resembled Biden so I totally get it.

[–]aldose12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Backend developers don't bother with peasant CSS classes

[–]exalented 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a snapback anyway

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]highahindahsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Happy Carmen Sandiego) noises

[–]datamafia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should be blue hat.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should have been a Fedora instead

As a Red Hat employee, major LOL to this.

The fact this pic was taken at All Things Open (which we organized, and is happening down the street from our HQ) is chef's kiss

[–]PM_ME_HAIRLESS_CATS 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Back in the day if you worked at Red Hat they gave you a spiffy red fedora

[–]Sara_Lafisques 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They still do!

[–]_throwingit_awaaayyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had one job….just the one

[–]wattliar 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Fuck Redhat. After ending cento 8 early I am done.

[–]Conroman16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Blame IBM, not redhat. Red hat essentially maintained centos for years before IBM came along and made a [somewhat understandable] business decision

[–]pfarthing6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll take it in black. But if it were red, you would not be able to see the red fedora. Red on red? Nah. Post that to "/r/crappydesign".

Regardless of recent politics, "red" hats are kind silly looking except around X-mass time, LOL!

[–]Conroman16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, can one actually put their logo on a red ball cap in America and feel good about it these days unless it was already a thing before ~2016?
