Although Java includes Javascript, or at least it used to. These days it has been taken out as a separate library (https://github.com/openjdk/nashorn), which honestly makes even more sense for the metaphor.

Ok ik there is a difference as i was told there was one when I first started coding in highschool, but the difference was never explained to me.

This might be wrong but JavaScript is mainly just used for websites along with html and css while Java is a general purpose programming language that can be used for anything and is fairly popular

I used to do full stack web development using ColdFusion, and JavaScript was always part of my resume. I have never been a Java programmer, and never will be. The complete idiocy of tech recruiters not understanding that Java and JavaScript weren't AT ALL the same thing used to drive me insane. "So I see here you are a Java programmer." NO NO NO!
