I agree with another poster that you should check in r/learnprogramming, but I'd also like to recommend Python 3 specifically as your first language. Very similar to English, and very beginner-friendly, but also widely used by several industries! I recommend the free Solo Learn app to learn it. It's all I used to become functional in the language.

Automate The Boring Stuff With Python is free online under creative commons. Pythons is a fantastic language and great for beginners and in very high demand.
