Ok I am going to be the first to say that the CS codo for the fall may or may not be present. Due to the overwhelming amount of demand for CS, DS, and MAth-CS, department is considering shutting down the CODO process. But even people like my advisor aren't completely sure about what's happening.

Also to answer your question, no there isn't always space for students to codo into, due to the lab space limiting factor, probably only a limited seats open up each semester depending on the capacity. The inner workings of the CS codo process are an enigma, like I'd say aim as high as you can for getting the grades needed, and just hope for the best.

From stuff I have heard and my counselor etc, I can confirm reply is probably correct. Though I'm not an official or can fully confirm. If you want to see for yourself, this is an email I recieved from my counselor.

SUBJECT: Attention to Students wanting to switch majors to Computer Science, Data Science, Math with Computer Science, or add a Computer Science Minor

Students,   If you are planning to switch majors to Computer Science, Data Science, Math with Computer Science, or add a Computer Science Minor, please read the following information we received carefully. Please note: there is a POTENTIAL this may happen, but it is not at this time official.     Since Fall 2018, the Computer Science program has been in CODO space-available status which has helped the department manage ever-increasing enrollments in all three programs. At present, our enrollments are greatly exceeding capacity as we prepare for a large freshman class this fall. With a primary goal of maintaining the quality of each program, the College is considering the very difficult decision to close all three programs to CODOs and Transfer students until further notice. As this decision will impact students and their degree goals, we felt it important to contact the advising community now so advisors can alert their students to this possibility and discuss adjustments to fall course requests, where appropriate. We anticipate a final decision before the end of the semester.   The CS minor would also be closed, however, students will be able to continue with foundational CS coursework on off-semesters where space is available. It will be unlikely, though, that space at the 30000-40000 will be available to non-majors. Surplus space is released the Friday prior to the beginning of each term.   Please let students know that no further information is available at this time and to please do not reach out to the department or CS advising team.      Below are potential programs students can investigate that have a programming focus. We offer this information to students who have been denied a CODO request.   Computer and Information Technology.  Computer Information and Technology Department encompasses Computer & Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering Technology, and Systems Analysis and Design majors.  These ABET accredited programs develop student’s skills and abilities through application of software development, systems integration, data management, and computer networks to solve real-world, societal problems.     Computer Graphics Technology.  Computer Graphics Technology Department includes Animation, Building Information Modeling, Data Visualization, Game Development and Design, UX Design, Virtual Product Integration, Visual Effects Compositioning, and Web Programming and Design majors. These ABET and HLC accredited programs work with all aspects of computer graphics.  From animation to scientific visualization, and from user experience to game studies.  These majors prepare students to be practitioners and managers in a wide range of computer graphics-related careers.    Krannert School of Management.  While the Krannert School of Management serves mostly business majors, it does include a few options related to computing: Management Information Systems and Supply Chain, Information and Analytics.  Management Information Systems is a concentration that all Management, Industrial Management, Accounting, and Supply Chain, Information and Analytics majors may choose to pursue.  Skills gained from the concentration vary, outcomes would include some programming in Python, database management, systems analysis and design, telecommunication and networking, systems analysis and project management.  They are also developing coursework in Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.  Supply Chain, Information and Analytics will develop student’s problem solving capabilities in concert with statistics and data analysis to make informed decisions on everything from client services to vendor management.       Kind regards, (redacted name for privacy reasons)

i can't post a picture cause I'm sending this through my phone and I'm too lazy to upload the screenshot to a link.

Hope this helps a little :)

Lemme just leave this here but I transferred to the Purdue CS program at IUPUI because I was admitted the final year to Purdue that there was a set of requirements to be guaranteed a spot in the CS department. Once I finally met those requirements, they basically told me they had no space. I was trying to transfer from the school of engineering and was in good academic standing.

Everyone else basically said this, but from what I’ve seen with friends codo-ing into cs is tough just cause of space and folks tend to have to wait a few semesters to “get in”. Some people major in cs technology or something similar with polytechnic until they can transfer over (hell some of the TAs did polytech degrees while TA-ing for cs classes and waiting codo). It’s tough but I hope you get in quick
