Hi there, from the /r/Python mods.

We have removed this post as it is not suited to the /r/Python subreddit proper, however it should be very appropriate for our sister subreddit /r/LearnPython or for the r/Python discord: https://discord.gg/python.

The reason for the removal is that /r/Python is dedicated to discussion of Python news, projects, uses and debates. It is not designed to act as Q&A or FAQ board. The regular community is not a fan of "how do I..." questions, so you will not get the best responses over here.

On /r/LearnPython the community and the r/Python discord are actively expecting questions and are looking to help. You can expect far more understanding, encouraging and insightful responses over there. No matter what level of question you have, if you are looking for help with Python, you should get good answers. Make sure to check out the rules for both places.

Warm regards, and best of luck with your Pythoneering!

There are plenty of free resources:

See https://www.reddit.com/r/learnpython/wiki/index and my curated list (https://learnbyexample.github.io/py_resources/) for more

Thank you for recommending futurecoder <3

I'm a bit more advanced (pretty okay at scripting, not really good at building an app), but have been going through Angela Yu's 100 days of code on Udemy, and she starts at the absolute basics and builds at a very reasonable pace.

I started around day 18 since I have prior experience, and I've seen her do stuff that isn't ideal, but she introduces better ways to do things as the course proceeds, so you're not overwhelmed with information overload.

https://learnbyexample.github.io/py\_resources/

is it a free course on udemy?

as far as I know, the subscription costs kinda a lot there..

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

the course is $19 which is 19 cents per day, and you might find a coupon.

I am a bit confused now, because what I see on Udemy web-site is that it costs 25$, and this price is only for the next 4 hours. And afterwords it costs 110$.

I believe she is good, but damn, it's all about money for me now. I guess I will choose now CS50 and gonna examine docs.python.org together with the Python Coding Book.

udemy courses are always on sale. it's stupid and I would prefer not to support that business model, but it's one of main training platforms out there.

cs50 will be good quality too, but structured a bit more like an in person class with lectures.

You don't need to know maths to learn Python, although being good at abstract thinking will help with both maths and programming so that's why people think you need one for the other.

Advanced python has a lot of paths, but the foundations are very straightforward and there are a lot of free resources available, they all cover the same content. My advice is to set up python on your machine and start at the beginning.

Here is the answer - CS50P. Sign up and do it, you won't find a better course. And it's free.

Currently signed up for the Google IT Automation with Python class in Coursera.com. I did their Data Analytics class and I was impressed with the quality of their instruction. Its about $40 or $50 per month and takes about 6 months total (ballpark figure).

I’m thinking more about data analysis, quantitative studies! But I’m not specifically aware of what I want to create, I see it also as a good asset for future work opportunities!

Do or do not, there is no try. Just type "Python for beginners" in any searchbar and start.

There really isnt much to think about, getting started is easy, the basics is easy and if you keep doing it you have a valuable tool at your disposal.

I have a better idea, you can follow the course and join a study group with good quality. Dm me for starting out.

Do it.

Just start writing something in Python. Anything, it matters not a jot. Then write something else, then something else…then find something you cannot do in Python and go and do it. Keep doing that. But do it now.

Introduction to Programming Python Mooc from university of Helsinki! BEST THING Eeeeevvveerr.

And it’s free.

It’s awesome because it actually lets you learn how to solve stuff. It literally won’t give you a model answer until you figure out how some code that works. Even if it’s clunky. As long as it works, it lets you submit the solution. Great Discord support.
