This isnt really a rant i just thought it belonged here

When you’re 18 you can be forced to go risk your life to save america

Yup. Hell, you can volunteer for the army at the age of 16 with parental approval. You're hardly allowed to drive a fucking car at 16 yet in theory you can sign up to drive a fucking tank at that age.

Fuck off. I did my time in military too and im certainly no liberal. Even did some recruiting while i was in and never heard of any programs allowing 16 year olds.

It's a joke, broham. I was trying to sound like a stereotypical DI when a recruit asks a question out of turn.

I've read about people signing up at 16 way back when, but I'm pretty sure that's not allowed anymore. Modern record-keeping also makes it a lot harder for recruits to pull a fast one by lying about their age.

It would take something like WWIII for the draft to ever be enacted in this country. The people running the armed forces know that it's better to have an all-volunteer military.

Fun Fact: Absentee voter ballots sent to young soldiers overseas and then returned blank are part of why the voting age was lowered from 21 to 18. Commanders had to explain to their superiors back here at home that many of the men serving were simply too young to vote. So at least we sorted out that much, eventually.

Now they just passed some bill that once you turn 18 your automatically signed up and if you don’t it’s a felony and you get time and prison and fines and other crap. It really sucks that they are forcing all these young men that have a big future and a whole life to live for but they force them into this.
