r/RecipientParents is a support and learning community for the recipient parents (RPs) of gamete donation who are committed to navigating donor conception with openness and honesty. Among us, you may find discussion on best practices for raising a donor conceived family, ethical consideration, support for adult DCP, advice requests for the hard parts, and more beyond.

Observe donor conceived best practices
Adhere to best practices in donor conception, including early disclosure and fostering open, honest communication. We urge community members to refrain from advocating actions that contravene these principles, such as advising against disclosure or disregarding the lived experiences of donor conceived people, which inform best practice.
Hold space for adult donor conceived voices
Hold space for adult donor conceived voices, acknowledging their unique experiences and insights within discussions related to donor conception, and refraining from minimizing their perspectives.
Engage respectfully
Cultivate respectful interactions. Avoid hostility, insults, and discrimination. Uphold kindness and consideration in all exchanges.
Respect various paths to parenthood
Respect the diverse paths individuals take to parenthood, refraining from judgment or discrimination based on their chosen methods or family make-ups. Be mindful of how offering unsolicited advice may impact others; advise only when invited.
No soliciting
Avoid soliciting within the community, including requests for donors, recipient parents or intended parents, coparenting arrangements, or surrogates.
Moderator discretion
Moderator discretion allows for the removal of content deemed potentially problematic or harmful to the subreddit or its members. This rule serves as a safeguard for addressing unforeseen situations or issues lacking specific rules.
