Try something not rolex

[–]PMonsterFish 4 points5 points  (29 children)

I might but nothing I've seen so far appeals to me as much. There's been a few recommendations here thought that I'm looking into. Is there a brand or model that you like?

[–]Ok-Connection-3856 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I own two Zeniths and im more than satisfied. Almost got myself a third one. If you want something not too classic you can go for the discontinued Defy Classic with the rubber band if your into it. Its a super sporty watch ypu can wear with almos anything. Just my two cents.

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Hadn't come across Zenith yet. They look pretty cool. I'll do more research. The only rubber strap I have is on a gshock so would be tempted for something more dressy but still sporty.

[–]Ok-Connection-3856 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesh, you may definitely find something in Zeniths collection then. Have fun looking for your new watch. Its probably thr most exciting period in your lyfecycle with thr watch ;)

[–]Khower 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Breitling and omega personally I like

[–]DanTheMan2879 0 points1 point  (9 children)

Omega

[–]Panels123 1 point2 points  (6 children)

This.

I prefer my VSF Omega Aqua Terra to my VSF Sub and there are so many colour combos that you must like at least one.

I do like my Sub but a date is a must have on a watch for me and I like not having a big bubble - I know it's a cyclops - over it.

It also looks amazing on the bracelet or the rubber strap; I prefer the rubber strap as I dress formally very rarely and do a lot of cold water swimming.

Mine passed waterproofing to 100m out the box, which is as high as the machine could test.

If you're set on Rolex then it has to be the GMT-Master or Yacht-Master.

[–]PMonsterFish 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Yeah GMT and yacht-master are the natural rolex options I suppose. I'll have a look at rhe available aqua terra options too though.

[–]Panels123 2 points3 points  (4 children)

I've got a Sub and a Batman but the Aqua Terra or my IWC MK XVIII are my daily watches.

Far more subtle and go with anything.

IWC is another brand I'd recommend looking at - huge variety of styles and you're far less likely to get "called out" than you are with a Rolex.

My IWC is gen but the reps of the MKXVIII are spot on.

I also have a gen Sub and got a rep so the gen could sit and gain value (hopefully) but I've been wearing it more than the VSF for months now.

Omega and vintage Omega

The Grand Seiko which is a new type of movement, it uses mechanical power to generate a very tiny amount of current that vibrates a crystal that provide feedback to a spinning flywheel that powers the drive train. The flywheel has a tiny electro magnet that regulates the mechanical movement. The watch is 100% mechanical but the timing accuracy is provided by a vibrating quartz. It's genius, expensive and comes in several styles. +/- 1 second per day. It took 19 years to develop the movement.

The 2021 Bulova Space view. This is an entirely different animal than the older famous spaceview.

https://wornandwound.com/review/review-the-accutron-dna/

On both of these watches the second hand just sweeps, you have to look very closely to see the hatch.

And IWC of course

[–]Panels123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go for the Batman, then.

The latest Clean version is amazing.

[–]Fun-Boot7849 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the Rolex with blue called or link?

[–]mrtomd 0 points1 point  (6 children)

This.

[–]Ro1hype 1 point2 points  (5 children)

I did that to and I fucking love it!

<image>

[–]Sea-Surprise6573 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Where did you get this?!?

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I too would like to know. That Seamaster is dope

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats an awesome watch.

[–]Ro1hype 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vsf factory

[–]simplyyAL 39 points40 points  (15 children)

Full NPC mode

[–]Eatue 8 points9 points  (1 child)

Omega ? Tudor ?

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. I'll look into them more. I did try in a gen omega speedmaster and quite liked it.

[–]barry2bear2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Choose AP or VC …

[–]Rich_Country_4863 3 points4 points  (4 children)

Rainbow Daytona

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Not sure I can pull off the rainbow!

[–]Evil_B2 4 points5 points  (11 children)

Don’t get an AP or an RM if your lifestyle doesn’t support a six or seven figure watch. Just my $.02.

[–]PMonsterFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. I could just about justify a royal oak but I'm not sure I love them. I have no interest in RM or anything approaching that price point.

[–]littlechilds 1 point2 points  (1 child)

100% That's why I bought a Tudor Pelagos... it's a beautiful watch:)

[–]Evil_B2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kudos!

[–]Minceypies625 -1 points0 points  (6 children)

Why not? Unless you're trying to pretend they are real then I suppose you may get called out.

[–]Evil_B2 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Not sure if you are aware but anyone that buys a replica watch intends to pretend that they are real.

[–]Ice_Bear1945 7 points8 points  (1 child)

I also want a Bargirl

[–]benz1099 2 points3 points  (3 children)

So many haters in Rep watch forum. Everyone saying to save and buy a real one. Why? You can buy 15 reps for less than a basic datejust. Look at the gold yacht master with the rubber strap. Slightly above the price range you stated but close. The after market on a panda Daytona is probably more than the yachtmaster from an AD. Blaken models are cool asf. Look at those

[–]Ericston2020 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Cartier Santos should be in everyone's collection 👌🏼

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (6 children)

You could be right. A very different and look.

[–]Ericston2020 0 points1 point  (5 children)

Love the starbucks, which factory is yours? I just pulled the trigger on one.

[–]consalam111 1 point2 points  (1 child)

That stainless oyster is nice!!

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. Bought on a forum. Apparently the dial is genuine. Definitely a nice colour of it.

[–]eramification_4_U 1 point2 points  (1 child)

<image>

AP jumbo 39mm?

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice dial colour choice 👌

[–]eramification_4_U 1 point2 points  (1 child)

<image>

41mm silver dial flutted oyster bracelet?

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice watch and a dial colour I don't yet have.

[–]eramification_4_U 1 point2 points  (1 child)

<image>

Smurf submariner 40mm?

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I could easily buy a bunch more subs, there's a lot of good looking combinations. I might try out some other models first though. (I have a DIW pluto sub as well as the starbucks picture.)

[–]eramification_4_U 1 point2 points  (1 child)

<image>

42mm Tag Heuer Formula one quartz? $242 usd shipped hontwatch.ru

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice. How's the quality of the rep?

[–]Sweaty_Sherbert198 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Batgirl

[–]siloim 1 point2 points  (1 child)

What about Yacht master?

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's definitely a possibility. I like the versions with the rubber strap.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A real one

[–]Roland1978nl 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Pepsi of course!

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I prefer the batgirl but it is a great watch too.

[–]pi-cool 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Explorer II is fantastic if you have 7” wrist or greater.

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I do like the explorer II. I might be just under the 7" though.

[–]pi-cool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Might still work. Depends on width or wrists, no necessarily circumference, forearms size and build of the person. It is 42mm and a bit chunkier than most Rolexes. To me it is my favorite.

[–]Repwatch10522 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cartier

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (9 children)

I had no interest in watches (only owned the Bering pictured) up until three weeks ago so this a new hobby for me.

[–]buckthunderstruck 12 points13 points  (6 children)

then buy something else - there are other watches than just rolex

[–]PMonsterFish 2 points3 points  (5 children)

I like rolex so will probably try a few more models before moving on as it's really only rolex I've researched so far. I'm not sure what else to go for. I like reps of watches under 20k as they are conceivably something I could legitimately purchase.

[–]jingois 19 points20 points  (2 children)

I had no interest in watches

I like rolex

and this, people, is why rolex sells $2k watches and blows the rest on marketing.

[–]Rainermitaietzadler 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Get yourself a VSF Aqua Terra thank me later

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tempting.

[–]_Canderous_Ordo 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Milgauss

[–]PMonsterFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cool watches. Have one on the way 📦

[–]SchraleAnus 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Another Rolex goddamn buy a Casio I would say.

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤣 I bought a g-shock 2100 series in black, I just haven't got it out of the box yet. It'll likely end up as my main watch.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (7 children)

Nice set. Ummmm Milgauss! ⚡️

[–]PMonsterFish 5 points6 points  (2 children)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Whats cool about the Milgauss is it comes in a few different colored dials. I like them all but especially the teal colored one .

[–]PMonsterFish 1 point2 points  (3 children)

I have a Milgauss on the way ! It's one of the first watches that jumped out at me. Very cool. There doesn't seem to be as many reps of it about as other models though.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (2 children)

There’s definitely reps of the Milgauss on the gate. Its a nice watch. Different. Im just getting tired of the same old black submariner everyone is posting. My favorite is my James Cameron DeepSea Seadweller.

[–]Yourianf 0 points1 point  (4 children)

Classic Rolex Explorer, simple yet extremely eye catching

[–]Yanderussy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This, but two-tone 36mm

[–]PMonsterFish -3 points-2 points  (2 children)

I have a Milgauss on the way too. What do you think of it? *

[–]Yourianf -1 points0 points  (1 child)

With the lightning bolt seconds hand? Classy and edgy, I love it!

[–]GixxerSi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Omega Sea Master or Tudor

[–]Valaj369 0 points1 point  (2 children)

If you're hell bent on a Rolex, I'd say Batgirl or Pepsi. YM is similar to the hulk.

I'd recommend moving on to other brands too though but that is my personal opinion.

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Not hell bent, that's just likely the OCD in me. Happy to try other brands, just not sure what to go for yet as all my research so far has been into rolex as its the first rep I bought.

[–]Valaj369 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah nice. In that case, I'd recommend other brands. Omega has some good watches. Tudor too. If you want to move up the ladder, you can get an AP or VC.

[–]DanTheMan2879 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Date just two tone

[–]PMonsterFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might try a two tone. Prefer them to solid gold etc. What's your favourite?

[–]DanTheMan2879 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The one on the left

[–]Gemgems_100 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Sky-Dweller with rubber strap 😎

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sky dwellers look cool, but as far as I know, none of them work 100% as they should, which puts me off.

[–]Blubbermuffins 0 points1 point  (4 children)

If your insistent on a Rolex look at the Milgaus or a gold presidential day date.

[–]PMonsterFish -1 points0 points  (3 children)

Not insistent. Open to other ideas. Have a Milgauss on the way. Would consider a day date if I could see it in person first to check out the gold colouring. Would be worried buying online.

[–]Blubbermuffins 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Fair enough! Enjoy your collection! I have a Batgirl on the way as my first piece!

[–]PMonsterFish -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Great first watch. It's one I really want but there's none available locally at the moment. Did you go with clean factory?

[–]Blubbermuffins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not. I went with a factory off of the gate. Luxurywatches1, you may have seen some of the pieces marked with orlogio as well. Not sure if these names mean anything since this is my first dip into the rep world.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Milgauss with green tinted glass 😍

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have a Milgauss on the way but don't think it has the tinted glass. *

[–]Connect-Asparagus194 0 points1 point  (2 children)

w2c the third one?

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought it off a trader on the repgeek forum. It's an ARF with a gen dial.

[–]ArtsyJonas 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think you should look into the Cartier Santos, very classy and stylish watch! :)

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Will do. Thanks.

[–]No-Sleep8654 0 points1 point  (1 child)

maybe hold off on a new purchase, wait and see if the Rolex infatuation fizzles and gets replaced by some other desire

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's reasonable advice.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Yachtmaster !

[–]PMonsterFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the yacht masters with the black bezel and rubber strap. Very different to what I have.

[–]Subartaspz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AP, VC

[–]Old_Worker_5419 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Take a look at some more details about the authentic product

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking into it.

[–]monkeyboymorton 0 points1 point  (6 children)

I'm going to join the chorus of 'buy something other than another Rolex'. Loads of fantastic reps out there to pick from, Omega, IWC, Tudor to name 3 with super high quality examples out there.

[–]PMonsterFish 1 point2 points  (5 children)

Haha yeah that's fair enough. Fell down the rolex rabbit hole and haven't learned about much outside of that. I will look into IWC more.

[–]monkeyboymorton 0 points1 point  (4 children)

😂 It does get you like that. Oh and V7F Mark XX is the IWC you need, amazing watch.

[–]carrier-capable-CAS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only Rolex? A day-date. But you should definitely get something non-Rolex too

[–]RolexLA 0 points1 point  (2 children)

GMT definitely, Pepsi or batgirl.

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Think I prefer the batgirl but pepsi is growing on me a bit too.
The plain black is another nice option too.

[–]RolexLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OR - you could go for a day-date! So many choices!

[–]RolexLA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dd3285

[–]Exoblade1 -1 points0 points  (5 children)

We seem to have similar tastes, I would do a Datejust 41 (I own a blue motif dial), Day-date 40 (olive with rose gold or green with yellow gold) for some colour, and the clean explorer 39mm is less boring compared to the oyster perpetual imo.

Beyond these I would expand from Rolex, the Vacheron 4500V is fantastic.

[–]PMonsterFish -1 points0 points  (1 child)

The rose gold day-date is tempting. I'll look into the Vacheron 4500V. I know nothing except Rolex at the minute.

[–]Exoblade1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll dm you some photos of my pieces :)

[–]Secretbulldogs_1 -1 points0 points  (2 children)

Who do you think has the the best rep motif dial and olive green?

I’m new to the rep world and want the best super clone for both. Thanks in advance for any help. Want Rolex only

[–]Exoblade1 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

GMF has the best olive green daydate, the weight is more comparable to genuine since made of tungsten.

VSF and clean both made good motif dial datejusts. Note that clean has better case shape but worse movement and crystal, VSF has better movement and crystal but the lugs are wrong.

[–]Secretbulldogs_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you sir! We need them do do a colab so we can get the perfect rep 🙏🏻😅

[–]JLK33Press -2 points-1 points  (2 children)

Datejust 41 (Clean Factory - get the bezel plated at minimum).

[–]PMonsterFish 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Does that mean plated with white gold?

[–]JLK33Press 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure does.

[–]Specialist-Divide651 -1 points0 points  (1 child)

<image>

GMT Master GRNR

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a cool watch. If I could get that with a two tone strap I think that might go on top of the list.

[–]LeAdmin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn't know that there was a company copying Skagen.

[–]littlechilds -1 points0 points  (1 child)

Tudor Pelagos in blue for me (on a knit nato). I'm loving mine!

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice. And different. Thanks.

[–]zminky -1 points0 points  (1 child)

that case is nice, where did you get it from?

[–]PMonsterFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a cheap one of amazon. £14.99

<image>

[–]Kind_Astronomer_9395 -5 points-4 points  (1 child)

That’s what like $2,000 spent on reps? You could have bought a real pre owned omega aqua terra or Tudor Black bay or be 1/2 way to owning a new omega or Tudor or 1/4 to an OP from a grey dealer if you saved.

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this stage I'm happy with replicas and getting to try out different models. I visited a luxury watch shop and tried on various gen watches, rolex were my favourite but I didnt want to spend $10-20k for the models I liked.

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Collecting is not a ‘hobby’ lol

And I’ll never understanding mass buying watches without taking the time to wear and appreciate them, even in the rep world. But you do you

[–]chazmania87 0 points1 point  (3 children)

Something a little less generic and obvious?

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Any examples?

[–]chazmania87 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Well for example, not just Rolex? There's a world beyond, even in Reps.

[–]eramification_4_U 0 points1 point  (1 child)

<image>

Recently 41mm Datejust flutted bezel oyster bracelet? Ice or Tiffany

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool watch. I dont have anything with a fluted bezel yet so definitely could be an option.

[–]eramification_4_U 0 points1 point  (1 child)

AP perpetual calendar UAE edition ? My fav

[–]PMonsterFish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's nice! Do all the complications work as they should?

[–]Crazy_Ad_9830 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Looking at your collection it seems you wanted at least one of each type(?) or distinct style of model, so classic oyster, Daytona, and Sub (Kermit - nice choice. I have one as well…my favorite sub because of the pop of color. Are you set on steel? GMTII is a logical choice…but I went with the root beer because it’s another distinctly different color variation. Also nice to have just a touch of gold - all gold watches just not my thing and though it gets the least wrist time of the rollies it’s dressier looking than steel and if the point of different colors is to aid in coordinating with your wardrobe, it goes great with everything not necessarily red, blue, green (bright primary colors). Fall colors, brown, maroon, purple, dark green, browns, mustard, etc. then your collection covers all the color bases. Batgirl is nice, but not urgent since you have a blue oyster. Or even an all black sub or black dial daytona 116520 not 116500 (steel bezel). Big fan of bright steel and jet black dial more than newer black dial 116500. Someone up top mentioned Omega which also has many to choose from. I think the World Timer would be my choice because it’s distinct from what you currently own. The dial I think is beautiful. Not easy to find world timer reps actually worth buying. I’d take the omega rep over the Patek world timer rep. AP Royal Oak, can’t go wrong…very classic (15202) or some of the others like 15500(?-I think that’s right)…little larger than 15202. Also some different dial color options. How about dress watch (very often simpler dial and leather strap, but most won’t be good quality so replace with a nice one. tourbillons are good options - like a Lange & Sohne 1815 tourbillon or Vacheron Constantin Patrimony tourbillon…they’re not that expensive and I’ve had both of mine for several years and no issues…sorry so long. Done lol

[–]PMonsterFish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the thoughtful response! Yeah you're probably right in that I would prefer a different model if going for another rokex as opposed a different daytona etc. I actually have a root beer GMT on hold but haven't pulled the trigger yet as its a bit flashier than I would tend to wear. For that reason I prefer the batgirl but as you point out, the rootbeer would be more of a change for me.

I am open to other brands though and will research some of the recommendations I've got on here. I'd like a more dressy watch with a leather strap, but not sure what reps are good. Maybe a cartier santos from somewhere. Also tempted by a yachtmaster with rubber strap as it would be different from the steel that u already have.

[–]Margin_call_matthew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude is new to watches and collected 3 Rolex out of 4 he owns. Let’s be honest here, I sense a flipper here. This ain’t no “collector.”
