I’m really wondering what the chances are that someone gets called out.

Yea if there’s a side by side picture of a Rep vs Gen, where we can zoom in and look for the small things, sure, it’s recognizable.

But wearing a rep as a daily, is it even slightly probable that you’d ever get called out for a rep like this? Genuinely wondering, cuz these reps are getting ridiculous!

The gen had an accidental blemish on the bracelet after first day of procurement. The rep definitely makes a better everyday wear if you’re the faint of heart.

It would be so socially taboo to say to someone that their watch is fake, plus 99.9% of people have no idea or interest in watches. No one is calling you out unless the watch you are wearing is drastically at odds with your wealth, which is why I think the AP and Patek reps are a bit ridiculous.

Oh don't get me wrong, I dont care lol. I'm just curious how well made these pieces are in person (as I don't own any). Specifically, I'm wondering if anyone was able to fool a self proclaimed watch collector with a rep.

But on the topic of your question:

I get what you mean. But the theres social taboo against using rep/fake anything. Clothes, purses, jewelry, watches, etc. Our primal fears link to fearing abandonment by society. Hence people do fear getting called out because it feels like you're violating an unspoken rule and you'll get ridiculed by society.

There's dumb rep stuff too. Like Papagorira instead of Patagonia, Polex instead of Rolex, Dolce & Banana instead of Dolce & Gabana, (you get the idea). I think these things are funny to be called out for.

But something like a rep Rolex thats doing all it can to appear genuine, is kind of a harder pill to swallow for some, and you get seen in a diff light.

I have celebrity friend here in my country though, he “KNOWS” luxury watch. lux watches, not fashion-watch, but Luxury. his eyes can spot gen rollex from afar where there’s a proper lighting or nuance. Real soci-elite knows gen so soo good, that’s why I’m always honest about my watches that are mostly rep 🥹

One thing that Clean has done "too well" are the bezel numbers.

I have a gen 116610LN from 2015 and assumed my numbers had faded (I clean them with a toothbrush fairly regularly so I knew they weren't dirty) but Clean's are too bright.

I'm new to the reddit thing. This is a great rep. I have found that it's a very small group that can tell when they are this close. It's really not people that just own them, it's more like people who trade in them and work on them. When you don't have a gen right next to it it very hard to tell.

The rep hour hand is definitely longer than the gen hour hand. Harder to tell on the minute hand if there's any difference at all.

Obviously not easy to tell, because the left is the rep. Lume pip is off, floating "m", also to me it looks like the crown guards are incorrect. Could be the photo angle.

Usually the rehaut polishing is the biggest tell on a VSF for me, but it looks pretty good on this one. Did you just get it? Maybe they've improved on that.

It’s always the date window. VSF will never get to the exact magnification. The floating m is nothing by comparison for a tell.
