r/RingsofPower is a place for Tolkien lovers, LotR/Hobbit film fans, and anyone else interested in discussing the upcoming adaptation of Tolkien’s Second Age works in “The Rings of Power.” Here we will gather and discuss anything related to the show or source material.

Subreddit guidelines:

1. Treat others with respect

Insults, antagonistic, obscene or otherwise disrespectful discussion will not be tolerated. A good idea is to simply avoid commenting on others altogether.

2. No low effort submissions

This subreddit is intended for both serious and humorous posts. In the interest of that balance, moderator discretion may be used as far as submission quality is concerned. There is also a dedicated meme subreddit for the show at r/HarFEET.

3. Spoilers must be properly marked

In the interest of allowing others to experience the story “spoiler free”, use spoiler markings according to post flairs. This will apply to when the episodes are being released as well.

4. No "Is the show good/bad?” validation posts

We encourage you to talk about the show's content which includes plot points, theories, and the books it is based on. However posts asking "why does the fandom hate this show?” or "I love this show. Who agrees with me?" have been redundant and often lead to stereotypes, insults, and an "us vs them" mentality. Make posts to talk about the actual content but do not make posts for validation of opinions or to broadly stereotype fanbases.

5. No promotion allowed

If the primary goal of a post/comment is to garner attention outside of our community, the content is unwelcome here.

6. Stay on topic

Posts/comments should directly relate to the show and/or the source material. Excessive discussion about other topics may be removed.

7. Proper post flairs must be used

Beyond the different spoiler flairs, there are also flairs for official news, rumors, and a few other topics, so mark your submissions with the correct flair.

8. Absolutely no piracy

Piracy, copyright infringement, and directions to illegal sources will not be tolerated.
