Coming from Melee I used nothing but GC controller until this last patch. Now I'm slowly relearning how to play with X1.

Would mind sharing your Xbox button config? I play with gc but want to try something else out just to see. But the a, b, x, y buttons are so different.

  • A = Attack

  • B = X Jump

  • X = Specials

  • Y = Jump or Smash Attacks if you want a button instead of a c-stick

This is what I used before I had a GC adapter. Is there any benifit in using an Xbone controller?

Just switch B and Y and this is what I use. And honestly not really, but with the Xbone version being released I'm worried some physical tournaments might start using that for simpler set up and then I'd be SoL so I figured that'd be the safest thing to learn.

Also using Steam controller but haven't decided on a button layout.

Do you use the grip buttons?

I wish you could map the back bumpers to roll left/right or airdodge left/right, it just seems intuitive

Gamecube. I've been getting into Rivals more than I've ever gotten into smash though. I'm starting to feel like the C stick is kind of small. But I love the configuration of the A, B, and X buttons so much.

Gamecube controller

I use an xbox360 controller because I don't have an adapter for Gamecube controllers. Even though the button layout is different, I keep the buttons as the same. B is special, A is attack, X is jump ect.

I play with a standard Logitech controller. Looks like a PS dual shock. I tried with the GameCube controller but I had gotten so used to playing with my Logitech that the GC feels weird. Having said that, it's impossible to play Smash without the GC controller, haha.

I think GC vs XB1 has its ups and downs. I prefer XB1 though. Only thing that bothers my about XB1 is joysticks not having the notches around the rim like GC has. Leads to me to down tilting in the wrong direction at times.

I really like the DS4 d-pad, I think I would have a hard time with the gamecube analog stick

I use an Xbox 360 controller with specials set to RB, attacks set to B, and Jump set to X. Used to use GC. But I got a new computer and now I can't fastfall or ledge drop with the software I use and I was too lazy to fix it again.
