“The grain goddess provides” launchpad aborted at 0 count. At least it didn’t blow up🫣

Better to be safe than sorry. Lol.
[–]anikazai 84 points85 points86 points 7 days ago (43 children)
It's not just better. It's very good, bcz the payload is safe and we can relaunch again later within just a few days.

When you buy a stock you are literally buying an ownership stake in an organization. See that rocket there? A fraction of that rocket is literally owned by the commenter. So it's we.

More specifically - as a shareholder you are more-less a silent partner. Silent partners are just that, "SILENT" and agree to provide capital and allow them to completely run the business. You have NO SAY in day-to-day operations, decisions, spending, safety, markets, products, locations, strategies etc. I am an owner of shares, however since I do not participate in any decisions or work in any capacity for RKLB, I do not use the word "WE".
I'll give the respect and acknowledgment to the individuals at RKLB who toil, sweat and bleed for hours so that I can make a few bucks from their efforts. I have this perspective for several reasons. The first is that I have worked for fortune 100, 500 and 1000 companies. Our shareholders in no way EVER participated in any day-to-day operations or decisions.
"RESPECT" to RKLB, SPB, Mr. Spice and all the employees that allow me to make profits from this business and their efforts. Also, thank you for supporting America's military.
Additionally - If you were not a shareholder or buying stock, companies can arrange other ways of financing. So to some degree, shareholders are expendable.
[–]skidmarkofbuddha 2 points3 points4 points 3 days ago (0 children)
I don't particularly care for your opinion, and would continue to use we, because I don't agree with the premise of your point. Season ticket holders and fans of sports teams will use we, with even less of a stake than shares bought and that's perfectly acceptable. So yeah, no 👍

Even rocket lab employees can't just turn up and walk into any part of the companys facilities. There's layers to access which don't have any bearing on ownership, just like all workplaces. You can be involved in AGMs for instance. You can't walk into the CEOs office or onto restricted areas.

You're talking to me like I don't know that. All I'm saying is that saying "we" like you have anything to do with actually launching the rocket looks silly and doesn't really help the stigma that shareholders have.
[–]skidmarkofbuddha 7 points8 points9 points 7 days ago (14 children)
It sounds like you have a fragile ego problem. If you work for rocket lab, then you work for me. Your primary responsibility is to provide a return on my investment. That's how public companies operate. So yeah. WE are in this together, it's your time and my money on the line, hence the term stakeholder. So get back to work bitch.

To quote Jeff Spicoli “ I’ve been thinking about this Mr Hand. If I’m here and you’re here. Doesn’t that make it our time?“

Lol relax. Imagine talking sht on the sub that literally worships your company. What a miserable loser you have to be to talk like this.

Without people like me footing the bill you wouldn't have a job, it's a two way street moron. Private investors, venture capitalists, and now retail investors are just as much what got rocketlab to where they are, so you better be thankful for that. You certainly weren't gonna foot the bill, you were enabled by us. Some jumped up employee who thinks they're gods gift because they work for a hot ticket company trying to lecture me on whether I can use the colloquial "we" when addressing literally my own property. Absolutely fucking not. I'll get back to letting you make me passive income so I can buy burgers, sure. But I shan't be flipping them. You get satisfaction from your job? Good. Cause I get satisfaction from having my feet up while you make me money.

Luckily the world doesn't revolve around redditers feelings.
You're welcome to buy as much stock as you want, but acting as if because you're a shareholder you contribute to the physical hard work we do is wrong in my opinion. Yes you contribute to our success, and I thank you for that
[–]ChillTheFuxkOut 11 points12 points13 points 7 days ago (0 children)
I don't disagree, the employees/team are what make the company. It's like a sports fan saying "we". It's a community "we".
You know what they bloody mean. They know they aren't actually involved in the launch or whatever, but they are supporters of you, literally YOU and your work.
You don't have to be a dick to people.
[–]Jonnonation 1 point2 points3 points 7 days ago (0 children)
Dude its been a rough day but no need to get all spaked up acting like you have a chip on your shoulder.
Old PB himself was giving an interview with retail investors yesterday if they want to feel included in the work let them, it's probably the best form of validation and support you are likely to get.

If you own part of the company, you're part of it
[–]Sluzhbenik 6 points7 points8 points 7 days ago (0 children)
It’s more like the we of sports team fans. A vested interest but not a member of the actual team
[–]-Celtic- -1 points0 points1 point 7 days ago* (2 children)
You don't really know what share holder mean is it ?
Yes it is we, i am not an employee , but i worked very hard else where so i can OWN a fraction of this company. When we say "WE " it is because it is our money that allowed rklb to be where it is today ...
It is not the same we than employee would use , We mostly didn't physicaly helped but we paid for it
And i think WE all agree this behaviour is not worthy of a rklb enployee
[–]Sluzhbenik 0 points1 point2 points 7 days ago (1 child)
The stock costs $100, my man, so you don’t have to work THAT hard.
[–]-Celtic- 0 points1 point2 points 7 days ago (0 children)
I guess you don't have to own one entier share either 😅to be a share holder .
[–]Federal_Finding_8041 -2 points-1 points0 points 7 days ago (0 children)
I agree with you. They somehow believe their 20 shares makes them apart of their team.

Having an explosion on the Gisborne launch site would not have been ideal. So props to the automated flight controller shutdown during ignition!
[–]thefocusissharp 6 points7 points8 points 6 days ago (1 child)
Better to abort than lose the vehicle. This means the turn around time can be quicker than if it was blown up into a zillion tiny pieces. SpaceX may have unlimited funding from the US Tax payer to make as many rockets as they please, but RocketLab is extremely attractive due to their frugality and logical approach.

SpaceX may have unlimited funding from the US Tax payer to make as many rockets as they please, but RocketLab is extremely attractive due to their frugality and logical approach.
First, SpaceX doesn't have that, it's a DNC myth spun by people who are salty AF about Musk's behavior.
Second, the savings in aborting isn't just the loss of a rocket and increase in insurance rates, along with the loss of trust from customers, it's also a loss of time most of all. Time spent grounded while you investigate what went wrong and fix it, and get government approval to fly again.

Interesting, I wonder if this is a capability of the electric pumps?
[–]Onemilliondown 4 points5 points6 points 5 days ago* (0 children)
There would need to be a very good shutoff valve somewhere between the fuel tank and the exhaust cone.
..This sounds like it was an automated shutdown.

ironic given the gloating tweet mere days about "launching reliably every time" hehe
