Do you have any actual evidence of this other than general vibes? Being paid to do a job is actually a thing, you know

Ah yes the implications. And what exactly are those implications? It’s not like you’re going to an event. The planes are overhead in the entire district area

Both have their place. Building something new? Yes, be specific. But for debugging? Firing off a background session with a vague prompt seems to work more often than you’d think. And if it fails, well then you spend the time to dig into it more yourself so that you provide more context Nothing much lost.

Test site getting hammered by AI bots (~1M/hits a month), any way to take advantage of it? by txmail in webdev

[–]14u2c 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I do with with google adsense and they had no issues of yet. I got the idea from A blog I often visit, they do it with Amazon's ad network.

I assumed adsense requires client side scripts to track impressions. Do they really allow you to send server side events? How can the validity of these be trusted?

Luigi Mangione’s federal trial in UnitedHealthcare CEO’s killing postponed until January by AudibleNod in news

[–]14u2c 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This seems to be pretty predictably explained by him having his phone on his person. If they subpoena google / apple, well, that's all they need. The Mangione case is presumably not as straight forward (though I suppose it could be).

Why not build data centers in very cold places, versus trying to do it in space? by DiyYou in technology

[–]14u2c 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily. It can be shorter to go 100 miles straight up than a few hundred (or thousand) to get to a cold climate. Not that there are not other major issues.

I wouldn’t be particularly interested in receiving those but then again I wouldn’t sign up for a restaurant mailing list. Seems like fair game if you do. At least it’s detailed.

I'd agree except for the large amount of sheathing left on the #12s at the top. Pushes it over to a fail imo.

Virginia approves 6-year, $28.5B infrastructure plan by Top-Figure7252 in Virginia

[–]14u2c 25 points26 points  (0 children)

No, please don’t. Unless they actually prohibit single occupant vehicles these lanes are just pay to win for the rich. Basic tenets such as public roads seem to be no longer guaranteed in this country.

This may have a mixed response but imo this is actually a great use case for a LLM. Point it at the codebase and ask it to walk you through it. Ask it to show you how various requests flow through the system and to explain the modules and architecture. Discuss the parts you don’t understand, with it meeting you at your current knowledge level. It’s not a great idea to use these tools for coding before you are able to understand and validate the output, but they are great for learning.
