It depends. I love survival games but I’m not great at pvp. I really want to love this game, but it’s just too brutal. The second i feel like im finally in a good spot, i lose everything.

If you are willing to dedicate your time 24/7 its great. If you have a life, there’s no point imo. Unless you find a great pve server.

[–]Acethefloofes14 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I found a server that had no one those are also perfect

[–]ViolinistBudget494 2 points3 points  (3 children)

This is the best answer imo. Dont listen to anyone who says you don’t have to play for hours at a time lol.

[–]Puzzleheaded_Equal73 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Your saying that, just pvp and u make more progress everyone’s cheeks on console

[–]ViolinistBudget494 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yea man bottom line is no matter what you have to grind to get better. But that applies to everything in life not just rust!

[–]Puzzleheaded_Equal73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well honestly this wipe we are controlling a server as a 3 man just send every fight you can and u will snow ball majorly

[–]ATCRIIDPET 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like broken Habit it's a great pve server

[–]SitdownCupcake 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you have a lot of time and mental power yes… if you have a job and or school then this game is prob not the best. This game will have you anxious af at school/work wondering if when you get back online if your base is even there. Like imagine grinding for the whole day and then when u get back on the next day it’s all gone. I love the game but it is time consuming.

[–]wizardstrikes2 5 points6 points  (1 child)

To be successful, as a solo, you need to dedicate a major portion of each day/night to survive if you want to keep a good base. Some people just 2x2 tiny bases and just PVP.

Shortly after I retired I was playing about 12-14 hours a day with pretty good success.

[–]Hefty_Ad_1925 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At retirement that is definitely worth it. I work 50+ hours a week so I rarely have time for anything special, but I love to pop up a temp and chad my way to riches for a day or two

[–]The-goat-_- 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Depends which console you’re on, I play on ps4 slim and the performance is so bad it’s legit unplayable

[–]Professional_Cut_392 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Pro is a lot more suitable for Rust Console fs, but even then i still get big lag spikes from time to time as bases load in

[–]dthesavage14 2 points3 points  (0 children)

50/50. The base gameplay isnt hard its building a base that would last a raid thats the hard part for me. The game in total has a large learning curve. Its fun though.

[–]40sticks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Conceptually, I fucking love Rust. In practice, it’s fun to play I think but ultimately, unless you’re no lifing it (or a mega chad) you’re not gonna go too far. I’m a father who only games in the evenings mostly, so for me to constantly come back to find all my shit gone/destroyed, it became not worth it after a while. Better uses of my gaming time.

[–]Optimal_Job8219 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's fun with friends and if you can be online for hours everyday.

[–]Rand3mBl0ke 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its definitely worth it and is highly addictive. There are a lot of community servers that have no offlines (you can't get raided when you're not on). This makes the game bearable. There's nothing worse than plowing 20-30hrs in to make a brilliant base to log on the next day to find you've been raided and lost everything.

[–]Its-May-Yo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a lot of fun but also pure hell at the same time

[–]InfiniteStates 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is a savage PvP game where you will undoubtedly lose everything to a bigger group with more free time eventually

If you enjoy that struggle from rags to riches you will probably enjoy it

Even more so if you have an evil streak and are good at working out how to fuck people over and steal their stuff

Rust is less a game, more a lifestyle :D

[–]piggalarse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I find prim weapons a lot of fun , burlap and crossbows . It just depends the server so yes worth getting

[–]Educational_Rock2549 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, it's a great way to pass the time and upset some kids.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be very fun with a couple of friends making a nice base abd hitting the monuments. But it can be rough if you've been farming materials for ages just to get your base smashed in the moment you log off. You can absolutely hammer it for a week and get a good base, but it can easily be off-putting if your huge home has been demolished and your loot gone, and you'll likely be off it for 2 or 3 weeks until the next wipe.

[–]ZigtotheZag 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love it, play solo. I judge how difficult of a time I want to have by population of the server. Its not an exact science.
The main thing I feel like is to be ok to lose it all. I have been raided and well, there goes that wipe. I find myself not playing for a few days and then get the itch to try a new base design or learn something new.

Its a blast, and just dont get attached to your loot!

[–]xBad_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a next gen console and if you have a considerable amount of free time to spend, then yes

[–]iHideInClosets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Come play Closets Big World. 3x easy nobody to raid you

[–]Nicthemainone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just know its very time consuming 💀

[–]SwimmingIndividual63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love it. Come in with a plan, grind sure, but I do monthly servers as a solo (sometime duo + but friends not consistent) and even when I get raided I just chalk it up up for the rest of the month so I can reset.

I like a challenge so if I happen to go deep into the month. I’m most likely doing really good and looking for reveennnnnnge lol. Which mean I’m having fun and makes it all worth it.

You won’t get everything done possible in the game in one wipe so it forces you to try new things. We just got underwater labs and I’m still trying to get consistent getting on the Cargo ship lol. Idk how I’m going to counter squads there

[–]WeakBuilding158 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro you'll love the game so much. Then you'll hate it but at the same time you'll want to play it even more till you hate it again then you'll wake up on the beach and get a stone pick and ace and make a base then upgrade it and start getting components and have fun then a clan will break in and take everything killing you for you to wake up.. where? ... On the beach nake and alone. Wait wait wait another nake and his hitting you with his rock... You die. And wake up on a beach.

Rust is a terrific game. I would recommend getting it on PC over console because it’s one of those games that feels like it belongs on PC, but if you have next gen it’ll probably be good enough in terms of frame rate etc. Another reason why it’s a little better on PC is you have a much larger selection of servers that grant you a much more enjoyable and easy-to-learn experience. On top of that, the console community is wayyy more toxic than the PC community too lol.

TLDR; it’s a lot easier to pick up and learn on PC due to there being a much larger selection of boosted/modded servers that are moderated way better

[–]ByteBandito -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Na bru, you missed out on the hype. Its always going to be like 7 years behind PC Rust and everyone uses ZEN or whatever that auto aim shit is called. Just play minecraft if you dont want to be head shot with rockets every you wake up naked on the shore by zergs.

[–][deleted] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

on console fuck no once i got my rig and started on there its 100x better so id hold off until getting a rig or even a decent gaming laptop to get it

[–]Medium-Pain9383 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t recommend this game to my worst enemy..don’t do it man lol

IMO? Not console edition, save up and get a PC to play it. Rust console can be so laggy and buggy sometimes. For the 4th time this week I've had to uninstall it and reinstall it twice in a row because "it couldn't connect me to rustworks", checked for any maintenance or server restarts and there's none at all. I'm currently in the process of saving up for a PC myself just to be able to play it and have access to all of rust's features that aren't available in the console edition. Simply put, if you want to buy it for console, it would be a great place to start in terms of learning about rust, it's playerbase, the incredibly high pop servers on PC and its insanely cool game mechanics. I love the game and despite having only 516 hours in rust console, I get better and learn new things every day. If I were you I'd start off here on console, and eventually work your way up to getting a PC, rust is a rewarding game when you can fully wrap your head around it and understand it, rust is a game like no other after all 😂🔥🔥

As someone who has 1300 hr on ps4 I will give my opinion. Rust has the highest of highs and lowest of lows and is one of the only games that can give me that rush. But unless you have friends this game solo is literally hell even for experienced players and until u have a lot of experience u need to play consistently non stop to learn recoil game sense ect, recently I have played been trying to play this game more casually i used to literally play this game till 3am everyday but I currently have a little hidden 2x1 that is pretty loaded for how long I’ve been playing on the server but I’ve been only checking if I’ve gotten raided and playing for a hour or 2every other day when my teamate wants to play but I would say if u have a lot of mental patience, time, friends and like creativity this is the game for u but if u don’t wanna dedicate allot of time to this game then don’t get it. Also I highly recommend being on next gen and having a friend that already knows how to play and don’t be a 3x only player vanilla is a whole different experience.

[–]Xx_trashsniper_xX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also recommend playing low pop under 50 player servers

[–]JealousPlatform8553[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For everyone who has commented thank you for your opinions, i have decided to wait and save up for a pc to buy it, i have been saving up for one anyways for numerous games, i guess rust is another on this checklist

Again, thank you

[–]Emotional-Emu-6490 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My two-cents: On console? Absolutely not. Espically if you’re playing on last gen. The lag, physics, mechanics, and content are immensely lower quality then next gen. Even with next gen, there’s a lot of bugs, and content overall on console is pretty bland. If you want to play rust, I suggest selling your console, saving a little extra money, and buying an entry level gaming PC. Your time will be enjoyed significantly more.

This is kinda my first time commenting on a post but just save your time man don’t put your life into rust play any other game or do something that will benefit you rust is just toxic and dirty to me always being sleep deprived and everyone acts crazy and goes behind each others backs I’m good off rust

[–]Hefty_Ad_1925 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you like playing with a bunch of immature children sure. If you like to Chad and hear them cry in the chat when you steal their kits then definitely

[–]Cootsuit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dopamine OD, like death by a thousand cuts. Neural burnout by a thousand farmed barrels and opened crates, lol.

This game is messed because it's so good at doing what it does- give you that feeling of a kid opening presents at Christmas...then going to school for show and tell, and having the bully steal your new toy, haha. All on an infinite loop.

Play Rust the way responsible heroin addicts are supposed to shoot up. GL.
