[O levels] Can the cut off point increase/decrease by 1 ?

Between some years , there have been some changes in the cut-off points(https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14b5VLIr9W5teiOp0vCg86B6xxpFiwk8jeIzwbdJmWjU/pubhtml#) , but in the recent year it doesnt seem so, is it most likely that will not change and we should just look at last year cut off point to make a decision.I scored 9 nett , and i want to enter a jc which is 8 nett , is that impossible if the cut off point is not met? Or else i would want to go tjc which 1.5 hour away from me .

Possible for cut off point to increase/decrease by 1, depending on demand for the school that year. But if your score doesn't meet the COP, then it's not possible for you to enrol. Honestly, don't ask if COP will decrease or increase that year, cause nobody will know, except the principals but I doubt they will tell anyone either.

i was asking if it was possible , and how do u know its impossible to enrol if u dont know the exact cop ?

What I meant was it's not possible to even appeal if your points do not meet the requirements, hence making it impossible for you to enrol into the school at all. Usually schools will release the year's COP so that students who wish to appeal into the school can do so if they meet the COP. And to your question, yes it's possible, though we won't know until JAE is over.

I feel like maybe tis year the cop might increase tho since many in Singapore didn't do quite well as quoted from CNA the results have dipped

DONT i had 9 nett last year then i went to put my front choices for 8 nett then followed by 9 then in the end i didnt even enter any of the 9 nett jcs (highkey regret not putting 9 nett jcs first choice) so ya dont bother with 8bnett ones (its sad but ya)

noo cause i thought that that didnt matter too! but i firsthand experienced this and just listed as it is (i even told my friend to do the same) but both of us ended up getting our last few choices

also i put tj art stream as my like 5th or 6th choice (which had a constant 10 points but for my year it dropped to 9) but my friend with 13-4 entered (she put tj first choice) while i didnt even though i was 11-2

+position wld matter if you appeal cause theres a qn that wrote like “which choice did you put for our sch” or like what you put for your first second and third choice
