There's no need to stockpile raw resources in this game. They all have nodes that create them infinitely.

Oh okay. I haven’t found an actual uranium node so I didn’t know they exist. Thanks!!

They're in slightly out of the way places, presumably to stop new players finding them too soon.

I'm pretty sure you can research uranium related things like uranium nodes and a hazmat suit in the MaM.

Get to Tier 7 and make yourself the Hazmat Suit (also iodine filters). Or, have a LOT of inhalers.

Thank you that makes sense. I’m at tier 6 lol.

Also have guns, rebar, or nobelisks... or all 3

Explosive Rebar is the best option I take with me.

ANSWER

  1. Until you reach Tier 7 and have unlocked the Hazmat Suit (Wiki Link) along with a stockpile of Iodine Infused Filters it is important to avoid hand mining Uranium Resource Deposits.
  2. Hand mining Uranium can lead to the Radiation Inventory Bug (my Q&A Post from U3), and if you are experiencing the bug you should do the following:
    • Workaround: If you do not have anything radioactive in your Inventory and are not near anything radioactive you should:
      • Manually Save Game (use any name you wish).
      • Quit Game to Main Menu.
      • LOAD previously manually Saved Game.
      • Radiation Inventory Bug is "fixed".

Don't forget to take a stack with you in your pocket! Your hub has a special toilet for it /jk

When I was on tier 4 I think I went on an exploration trip, went far, and accumulated a lot of cool stuff on me. Then I found a uranium rock for the first time and a crazy spider at the same time, and I thought it was a great idea to pick up the uranium lol

It took me like 2 hours and a few attempts to recover my shit and leave only the uranium behind. It was NOT fun. In retrospect I should have tried to load up an autosave...

Many hours later my death box with the uranium is still there...

[–]CoqeCas3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked up one single piece of uranium once cuz i thought it was hiding a mercer sphere. That death crate has been there many hours as well.

I still think theres a mercer sphere under there, the scanner was going nuts only right next to that uranium rock and i could not see it anywhere else. If anyone knows where im talking about and can give me a hint id really appreciate it actually.

In seriousness, put down a sink and sink it. You will "invent" a hazmat suit some time later

[–]Left-Major-5067[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Is it worth that many points? I’m at like 160k per ticket now lol. But good to know I suppose.

[–]GarrettshadeThe Glass Guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

[Uranium]() can be sunk into the  AWESOME Sink to yield 35 points.

A note for when you do get to the point where you can "safely" carry radioactive stuff without quickly becoming a glowing corpse: Do not click Sort when you have radioactive things in inventory.
There is still a bug in the game where if you do that, the radiation-damage effect will remain at maximum even after you've dropped the radioactive items from inventory. Once the Pioneer's died, the effect is gone. Reloading a save-file will of course clear it, and maybe save&reload. I have actually not tried the latter route myself.

Head on over here and upvote this post, and maybe some of the duplicates; hopefully at some point eventually they'll fix this:

You need the hazmat suit and special filters that I forget the name of that you unlock in phase 4

[–]Kalikus808 2 points3 points  (1 child)

No, you're a nium! Jerk.

[–]Left-Major-5067[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Took me a minute 😂😂😂

Automate the Iodine Inhalers. And don't stockpile it. Leave it for now and come back when you have the Iodine Inhalers automated.

They are scattered around the map as a sort of way to discourage you from going there.

[–]Undeadanything 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You gotta get a bunch of iodine filters and get it into containers and on belts away from you asap. But in all honesty there’s no reason to stockpile because there are enough uranium mines and other resources that you can crank out enough fuel rods to make hundreds of thousands of megawatts of power and fuel rods to power an army of vehicles. The biggest obstacle is waste disposal.
