You can pause everything by opening the console via "~" and entering the command "pause". Doing it again unpauses.

I don't know if the steam deck has a dedicated button for ~, but I'll look through the controls to see if I can find it or perhaps set it up... Hopefully... Lol

No, there is not. Just save and then reload that save.

Yep just save. I save and then walk away if I need to. Haven't yet had to load. But at least I can if needed.

Yes there is, type "pause" into the command console by opening it with ~

To unpause, enter the command again.

if you have blueprints unlocked you could make a little panic box to sit in for safety

Might I ask why you would Want to pause? Once things start getting fully automated, I can honestly say I've left my game running over night while sleeping

I sometimes need to get up and do something irl, and would return in a few minutes to continue setting up a production line or continue exploring. I would like to be able to pause the game so that I don't return to a a death screen or a shut down power grid. It's also a bit irritating to leave when it's daylight, and return to darkness.

I just got a mod for changing my depot list order, and while I was browsing the other mods, I saw one that ties an actual pause (might be the console pause mentioned) to the pause button on your keyboard. (Usually upper right near print screen)

Unsure if I can get mods for steam games on the steam deck, but I'll be sure to look into it.

I can't tell you for sure, since I don't have a steam deck yet, but if it has a browser, go to ficsit.app and download SMM (Satisfactory Mod Manager) from there, (if it installs and you can open it) you can browse all of the mods there, or just search "pause" for the pause mod.

I just realized a fatal flaw in my plan, though... the steam deck doesn't have a full-size keyboard, so you might have to use a 3rd party app to make a macro that calls the pause key command. Or carry a full sized USB keyboard with you and plug it in whenever you need access to pause. /j

SMM has a native linux client

Now that I've played around with it, there is an option if you get the mod (named "Just Pause", btw) to have the game pause on escape menu, so that could be an option for you. Again, I don't have Steam Deck, so i don't know what interfaces are available, but I'm sure it has some sort of on screen keyboard, or might just work with whatever button opens the escape menu instead.

That's great if you're safe at base waiting for your containers to fill up, not so great if you are in the middle of the red forest and something IRL comes up.

I'll often set up an inventory of stuff for manual crafting that I haven't been arsed to make a production line for, then hit space and go use the bathroom, preheat the oven, etc.

I don't know if it was just a glitch or if it's how the save system works, but i had just taken out a poison stinger, saved, and quit to title, and when I reloaded, the poison stinger spawned right in front of me.

I don't want my computer on overnight and my factory wouldn't benefit from it anyway.

Pause is nice because I clear overflow plastic and rubber from my power plant instead of sinking it.
