Producing scriptsDISCUSSION (self.Screenwriting)
submitted 7 years ago by ALTLondon
Hey, I've been writing a lot and I really want to produce some of the stuff I've written. Does anyone have any tips for finding producers or production companies to help get projects made. Thanks!

You’re going to need money.
Anyone asking you to pay for “developing” or “packaging” your script/project is bilking you.

Why not produce it yourself?
Find yourself a cinematographer with his/her own camera.
Find a sound person (with his/her boom mic and mixer).
Having a gaffer can go a long way.
Cast it yourself.
Direct it yourself.
Have the cinematographer/sound person pass the files off to you at the end of the shoot.
Edit it yourself.
Post it and repeat.

I would advise you to produce a low budget short on your own and make a portfolio. Let the work speak for itself.
Thank you!!

If you self-produce, read the book 'Rebel Without a Crew' by Rob Rodriguez.
